birth name~ Eirawen Constance Morguase Rohana

age && date of birth~ November 1st, 1960 [35]
gender~ Female

occupation~ Hogwarts Healer
face claim~ Kate Beckinsale

canon / original~ Original
hair color~ Chestnut brown with natural red highlights.
eye color~ Hazel.
height~ 5'4"
weight~ 129 lbs
distinctive features~ Long scar over her abdomen.
general appearance~ Eirawen is a slight woman, coming in at a little under five foot five and roughly a hundred and twenty soaking wet, and most of that being her hair. With the pale complexion and smooth skin of a medieval noblewoman, Eirawen prides herself on her Celtic heritage and the various affects it has had on her genealogy. Her hair is thick and naturally a deep, chestnut brown courtesy of her mother, with various reddish highlights from her father. Long exposure to the sun can bring out blond from time to time, but for the most part her hair is quite dark. Her eyes are a rich hazel that will occasionally turn a darker green depending on her emotions, and her brows are naturally shaped to a subtle and expressive arch.
Perhaps Eirawen's most notable feature is the one not commonly seen. Over her abdomen is a long, ragged scar from a hunting accident in her youth that to this day remains a very sensitive subject for her. She is extremely self conscious of it and goes so far as to wear a fashionable knit over top of swimsuits in order to keep her abdomen hidden.
likes~
Eirawen's father was the most important person in her life. He was her great protector, the teller of tales, the best laugh and the greatest happiness she had. She adored her father, and there are days when she truly believes it is her fault he was killed. It is a sin she cannot forgive herself.
02 VIVIEN ROHANA ~
Eirawen's mother taught her to ride a horse, string and shoot a bow, carry herself with pride and believe in herself as both a witch and a woman. Vivien is as much Eirawen's world as her father was, and is the gentle voice that reminds her his death is not her fault to bear.
03 DWYTHE ROHANA ~
Dwythe is Eirawen's knight in shining armor. He was always there for her as a child and when things fell apart in her one and only relationship, he helped pick her up and get her back on her feet. She loves her brother, and Dwythe will do just about anything to keep his baby sister safe from men like West for the rest of her life.
04 THE OLD RELIGION ~
The Rohana family is descended of the Arthurian line, and so they take great care in passing down the tales and the beliefs of that time. These stories filled Eirawen's childhood - both the magical and the mundane versions - and are a source of wonder and comfort to her. Vivien believes in the Old Gods and Eirawen grew up praying in their names.
05 DRUID MAGIC ~
The Old Magic practiced by Merlin is one the Rohana family seeks to uphold. It is a dying art in many ways but aspects of it remain strong even today. Among those aspects is the art of rune casting, which has a heavy tie to Eirawen's immediate Rohana line. Her grandfather was an Ancient Runes professor, and the study of runes was what brought her parents together to begin with.
06 WOLVES ~
Wolves have fascinated Eirawen ever since she was a child. Natural hunters, the wolves embody grace and strength in the unity of a family. To Eirawen, wolves are sacred beings and she has a deep respect for them that is almost soul deep. This truth is reflected both in her patronus (A great wolf) and her animagus form (A white timberwolf)
07 HEALING ~
Healing is a natural gift, a lifetime of study and a promise to Eirawen. It is something that she has sworn an oath to perform on any who seek her aid, and something she takes great pride in. She loves to heal, because to her it imparts a gift of strength to someone else and passes on the luck she was blessed with at birth.
08 SPELL CREATION ~
Although she doesn't do it often, every now and again Eirawen finds herself trying to do something and realizing there's no spell for it. Though she is familiar with a Muggle method to manage it more often then not, there are times when a Muggle practice may not be appropriate. So, every now and then, Eirawen will sit down and spend many an hour crafting a spell for this purpose. Sometimes though, in the spur of the moment and in desperate need, she will do something with her natural magic, and later be forced to find a way to replicate it.
09 ANIMALS ~
Eirawen loves animals, be they domestic or wild, predator or prey. She admires the elk as much as the cougar, adores the rabbit as much as the hawk. Horses are close friends in her eyes, and she is exceptionally loving of any mount she owns or meets. She has a fondness for dogs and a deep respect for cats, and while she isn't fond of amphibians or reptiles she will hardly run screaming from them.
10 DANCING ~
Eirawen loves to dance with her mother and family during get-togethers, and enjoys the gypsy style the Rohana have adopted as their own. She has learned a few ballroom styles, though she rarely finds anyone to partner with now that she is at Hogwarts.[/ul]
dislikes~
Connor is the reason why Eirawen is terrified of charismatic men, the reason why she feels such shame in the scar she once bore so much pride in and the reason her father is dead.
02 PURE-BLOOD MANIA ~
Eirawen has never held any stock in the pureblood nonsense, and was raised to consider it a pointless belief. To her, those who follow the pureblood madness are ignorant and foolish. She also will not tolerate anyone mistreating a Muggleborn or Half-Blood in her presence.
03 VOLDEMORT ~
This man - Eirawen has few words for this man. He headed a campaign of blood-purity and was little more than a tyrannical idiot. She has no good words for this man.
04 DEATH EATERS ~
These idiots killed off a bunch of her family for no other reason than petty sport. She has no love for them either. She is rather fond of her Aunt Gwendolyn's dying word's in reference to the Death Eaters, who all Rohana now refer to as, The Death Nibblers.
05 THUNDERSTORMS ~
Eirawen has always been slightly fearful of thunder and lightning, regardless of the scientific and philosophical knowledge she has about them. When Connor West nearly killed her, it had been storming out. She now associates storms with fear as well as pain, and as such is incredibly timid during them - assuming she can be found during one.
06 SPIDERS ~
Eirawen hates spiders. In fact, to Eirawen, spiders are like little pieces of death wrapped in scary and make her bleed unhappiness. (To quote a certain blog)
07 CHILD ABUSE ~
Child abuse is wrong, no matter who you are or what you may think that child has done. No child deserves to be mistreated, there is no excuse to ever raise a hand or wand to a child, and anyone who dares to do so will find themselves facing the wrath of a healer. She may be weak, but if there is one thing you never want mad at you, its the person who fixes you when you are broken.
08 ARROGANT AND CHARISMATIC MEN ~
Arrogant men are just plain irritating, but charismatic men are terrifying. She once fell for the charming and dazzling ways of a beautiful and charismatic man, and the result was a hatred of herself and the death of her father. The thought of ever being ensnared by someone like that again is absolutely bone chilling.
09 DAILY PROPHET ~
The paper prints rubbish. Honestly, the only good use it has is as litter fodder.
10 QUIDDITCH ~
Quidditch brings her more injured students than any other magical malady, school fight or other accident combined. Its a horrible, wicked sport. [/ul]
habits~
Eirawen has had a hard time opening up to people since her father died. Even before then, she always had the habit of talking to horses, cats, dogs, owls, and just about any other manner of creature with a respect so deep that it was clear she considered every animal she spoke with to be as smart as any human, if not more so. Since her father's death, she has taken to telling her hardest secrets and pains to animals more often than ever before.
02. SINGING TO HERSELF~
When she is alone, Eirawen will sing the songs that were passed down to her by various members of her family. Some of them are hundreds of years old - some are so old that the origins are forgotten, if not the story. Others are new, composed by recent ancestors or even direct relations. Some days she'll even sing Muggle music from various genres. Music relaxes her and makes things feel less lonely when she has nobody to talk to and is too shy to make any new friends or go search someone out.
03. BRAIDING AND UNBRAIDING HER HAIR~
Eirawen tends to do this when she is nervous or sad. It gives her hands and mind something to concentrate on aside from the emotions boiling up inside of her. When she is nervous, it helps keep her centered and when she is sad, it helps distract her from the need to cry.
04. CLUTCHING SHIRT SLEEVES~
This habit is as old as Eirawen herself. Her father spoke often of his infant daughter's first handhold, the cuff of his shirt which she held on to as tightly as a lifeline. From that very first day, whenever Eirawen wanted her father's attention, or that of her mother and brother, she always reached out and grabbed their shirt sleeve. This was as much an expression of love and trust as her smiles and hugs, which her family realized when the young girl never once did this with anyone else until she was thirteen, and finally latched on to her Uncle Landon, the only other person she has done this too. A part of her heart is extremely glad that somewhere, her mind had stopped her from using this pure childhood expression of trust, love, and a desire for protection and attention with Connor.
05. PRAYING TO OLD GODS~
The Rohana family have believed for hundreds of years that they are the descendents of the old Horse Lords, which were less gods and more guides, though as the centuries passed many outside the family came to confuse the two. For Eirawen, praying to the Horse Lords is as much a prayer to gods as it is to ancestors. She is also known to pray to old Celtic gods, from the Mother Goddess and Cernunnos the Hunter, to more obscure gods such as Lenus and Abnoba. [/ul]
strengths~
Healing came to Eirawen naturally, in a time of great need. Since then she has honed her gift and come to channel it through proper avenues, though from time to time a desperate moment will arise, and Eirawen's magic will respond. A bit like wild magic, it is more like a natural form of wandless healing that comes to Eirawen when it is most needed.
02 POTIONS AND HERBOLOGY ~
As a healer, Eirawen is deeply tied to the realms of potions and herbology, which are two intricately connected arts that healers rely heavily upon. She loves plants and is quite fond of growing her own potions ingredients whenever possible.
03 TRANSFIGURATION ~
Transfiguration has fascinated Eirawen ever since her first year at Hogwarts and has always been one of her best subjects. In her fourth and fifth years, after extensive study, she had her uncle Landen assist her in learning to become an animagus, which she mastered in time for her O.W.L. performance, earning herself an extra 50 points toward her overall score.
04 GENTLE HEART ~
Eirawen will open herself to any man, woman, or child in need of her aid. If you are broken, bloody, battered or bruised, she will be there for you. If you've a cold, a chill, a fever or a malady, she will hold you through it and damn her own health. Eirawen has a heart capable of so much love and tenderness that one would think it overwhelming until one came face to face with it, and realized just how completely gentle it was. She does not come off as suffocatingly motherly like Molly Weasley, but there is a definite maternal and caring nature to this lithe healer.
05 PROTECTIVE NATURE ~
Eirawen would lay her life on the line to protect her family and those she loves. She cannot fight to save her life, but she will do her best to fight and save theirs. She puts her loved ones before herself, every time. She is fiercely protective of her patients, and will protect them from both external forces and themselves if she has too.[/ul]
weaknesses~
Eirawen is, for lack of any kinder term, utterly hopeless with defensive magic. She can study the theory and cast the spell until she is blue in the face, but it simply will not work her. She can manage a few weak shields and a somewhat decent stunner, but beyond that she's rubbish, really.
02 TIMIDNESS WITH MALES ~
West destroyed Eirawen's ability to be confident around men, especially if they happen to be attractive or even remotely charismatic. He essentially taught Eirawen that the sweeter a good looking man is to you, the more he is going to hurt you. As a result of this, she will avoid any man she finds attractive simply out of the fear for falling for him and going through what she suffered with West. If said man also happens to be charismatic and even remotely interested in her, she will be even more terrified.
03 FRAIL BODY STRUCTURE ~
Eirawen is not a strong woman, nor is she a very big one. She bruises easily, and her bones can be broken with as much effort as one would place into breaking the bones of a child. She is prone to ankle sprains after her experiences with West, and has to be careful when she is running.
04 GENTLE HEART ~
Because Eirawen has such a big heart, she is often prone to getting herself hurt. She had one big chance at love that turned out to be a lie and brought her nothing but pain, but it is more than even that. she opens herself to her patients and those who rely on her, and when they hurt it pains her. Because she meets so many people in her profession, there is always a chance something will happen to them, and when it does she remembers her time with them and aches for what transpired.
05 PROTECTIVE NATURE ~
The woman cannot fight to save her life, and yet, off she goes ready to face off against anyone who would try to hurt her family, loved ones, or patients. As a result of this, she is perhaps a bit reckless and uncaring toward her own life, and often gets herself into a hell of a mess.
[/ul]
goals~ To live peacefully with her family and the man she loves, and maybe one day have children of her own.
secrets~ She is a wolf animagus.
overall personality~
Eirawen is a gentle woman who will pour her heart and soul into everything she does, but she is also a woman who has been deeply scarred and wounded by cruelty and crassness.
She bears herself with independence and pride, but her heart is wounded and her confidence deeply shaken, thus making her a bit timid and actively shy when it comes to meeting other people - particularly men.
Eirawen will stop at nothing to help others and protect the ones she loves, but the truth is she is not a powerful woman. Her greatest gift lies in healing, and that is a strength that can only assist after an injury has been made.
She is a sweet and quiet girl who lives her life for the betterment of others. She took an oath when she discovered her healing abilities to always heal those in need, and she has kept to that oath even when it terrifies her to do so.
Eirawen is deeply damaged and slowly coming to terms with everything that has happened to her. She still has a great and unyielding terror of men that relents only for family and one other man, who is so much more than just a man both in her eyes and in reality.

history~
The Rohana family was an old pureblooded one, descended of the Welsh and tied to the old Arthurian lines. They did not have the prestige of the House of Black, nor did they care for it. Rohana had always been a humble line, deeply tied to the magic of nature as well as man and they held little stock in the bloodlines of wizardry. Vivien was a Muggle woman who had met her husband while studying the Ancient Runes of the Druids. She was fascinated by Arthurian legend and the old ways, and had long prayed to the gods of ancient times. She was a strong, independent woman who enjoyed hunting as much as the next woman enjoyed shopping, and she lived to discover some sense that magic was real.
Gawain had been instantly taken by the lovely lass, and her fascination for things he was directly related to brought him a sense of secret pleasure. Being the son of an Ancient Runes professor at Hogwarts, Gawain knew a great deal of both the Muggle and magical manners of the casts, and bonded with Vivien over the time of her study. It was a year before he asked her to marry him that Gawain revealed he was a wizard, flouting the decree slightly in order to do so. Vivien was taken aback to begin with, but warmed quickly to the truths of wizardry. When she was asked to marry him, there was no thought to her mind but yes.
The two lived happily together, but there was one pain between them that no magic could assist with, du to the fact that Vivien was a Muggle. After seven years of trying and three stillborn daughters, Gawain and Vivien had all but given up hope of bearing a child of their own when they found themselves blessed by a miracle. Dwythe was born on the Day of Patrick, strong as any son could ever be. They never expected another child, so when Vivien found herself pregnant four years later she and her husband were both shocked and worried. Vivien was in her second year of thirty and had shown that daughters were not her skill to bear, yet there was little to be done but wait.
When Eirawen was born, the greatest shock of all was that she was alive. The fact that she was mostly healthy, but a touch premature, was a miracle. Gawain was from the very first day of her life, the most fiercely protective father one could possibly imagine. He loved his little girl and made sure that Dwythe knew he had to look out for his sister. Vivien was in awe of her little one, but she also believed in raising her to be strong. She taught Eirawen horsemanship and the way of the hunter's bow, much to Gawain's constant fretting.
Eirawen was never a strong lass, but she could hold her own with a bow and was a careful enough hand with a horse that most were docile for her. She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed the nights spent before fires in the yard, as Gawain told stories of the days of old, from Muggle or Wizarding perspective depending on the desire of his children while her mother sang soft ballads she had studied over the years. Eirawen was in touch with all sides of her father's family, as the Rohana's were a large but tightly knit clan, though she knew little of her mother's, who were less close and all unaware of the truth of magic.
When she was eleven, Eirawen received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. In celebration, her grandfather - who had long since retired from his post of Ancient Runes professor - gave her his personal set of stones. She was sorted to Ravenclaw, much to Dwythe's amusement and minor disappointment. Being a Gryffindor, Dwythe knew Ravenclaw would suit his lithe little sister best, but he would have preferred her in the same dormitory, where he could keep a close watch on her.
During her Hogwarts years Eirawen stayed rather clear of Gryffindor, as admittedly the antics of four of its older and most popular students were quite terrifying. Naturally Dwythe was rather fond of the Marauders, who were a year above him, though this did little to appease his timid sibling. She also stayed clear of Slytherin, which scared and annoyed her for various reasons, primary among them being their pureblood stupidity. Like her father's family, Eirawen did not believe that 'blood purity' had any place in society and considered it a highly foolish notion indeed.
During the summer of fourth year, Eirawen went on a hunting trip with her mother. They separated briefly, and in that time Eirawen managed to discover the lair of the boar they were hunting. Unfortunately, there was another close by and it managed to startle her horse, throwing her off and into the path of the first. The boar's tusk gave her a gut wound that could have killed her had it not been for her latent healing abilities. Remounting her horse, Eirawen concentrated on her wound as she rode back to camp and collapsed.
When she came too, she was at home with her father beside her bed, weeping. He told her, upon her waking, that she was lucky to be alive. Her mother had found her an hour later, and had it not been for the wandless healing she had managed upon herself, she would have been long dead by then. Gawain had finished the job to the best of his abilities, but the scar would always be there. She assured her father that it was fine - her scar would bear as a testament to her will to survive and she promised to be proud of it.
During the following year at school, Eirawen began to study healing magic and placed extra effort in the courses that would aid her in proceeding toward a career in the subject. She raised her Potions score from an 'E' to an 'O' and took an extra-curricular course in Muggle medicine. The only class Eirawen put great concentration on that wasn't directly related to a healing profession was Transfiguration, which had fascinated her from her first year at Hogwarts. She did considerable research into the subject before approaching her Uncle Landen and requesting his assistance in learning to become an animagus.
During her O.W.L. year, Eirawen earned an additional 50 points on her Transfiguration examination for successfully transforming into a large white timberwolf. She excelled in her Potions, Herbology, Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies, History of Magic and Charms courses, but her Defense and Divination were abysmal enough that she was embarrassed to show her father.
During her sixth and seventh years, Eirawen applied to outside Muggle courses and did double the effort, losing herself in her schoolwork. She lost what few friends she did have in these years, simply because she had no time for anything other than her studies. By the time she graduated Hogwarts, Eirawen was set to apply to either wizarding or Muggle university with nothing but finances to hold her back.
It was a surprising gift from her maternal grandfather upon his passing that settled Eirawen's decision to proceed to Muggle university, where she chose to concentrate on pediatrics. It was during her final years in obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery that she met Connor West. He transferred in from another university due to a lack of the necessary courses he needed for a Mastery, and was paired as her partner during a research project.
It was during this project that Eirawen finally registered the fact that she was a young woman who had never before been on a date, or held a man's hand, as the consistently close proximity to the exceptionally handsome West had a terrible effect on her concentration skills. He took note of this and, in the nature of truly attractive men aware of their own good looks, saw fit to tease her mercilessly.
At first, their relationship was a tense and nervous one on Eirawen's part, as West's teasing often made her blush and left her feeling utterly awkward and out of place with herself. She had no idea how to respond to him and it eventually began to affect her grades. When West came to realize how badly he was affecting her, he was genuinely apologetic and did all he could to help her make up for the slip, and it was during this time that the hapless lass began to truly fall for him.
Shortly before their final examinations, West requested her presence and requested a date with her. Not to study or bum around campus, but to genuinely go out and enjoy a night on the town together. She was hesitant at first, but his charisma as always won over her nerves and she went with him. This was the start of what would be a three year road to hell and back.
West was overpowering in his charm from the first day she met him, but after dating him but once Eirawen was completely under his power. They graduated side by side, a couple by this point, and took up positions at a small hospital to begin their in field experience before applying for their Masters.
Eirawen was twenty-two by this point and, though the war of the wizarding world was certainly happening, it had yet to truly affect the Rohana family. They had managed to somehow stay under the radar, being composed of teachers, librarians and researchers with no real connection to political agendas or anything of real import to Voldemort's cause, and likely would have stayed that way had it not been for Eirawen's eldest aunt, Gwendolyn.
An attack was made on a young wizarding family, and Gwendolyn had happened to be close friends with the father. In a grief-stricken fury, the woman saw fit to use a Sonorus charm to announce her displeasure with the Death Nibblers as she opted to dub them, and found herself promptly surrounded by a group of said individuals.
The battle, such as it was, ended quickly, though not without consequence for the Death Eaters who slayed Gwendolyn Rohana. She took two out with her, and gave a handsome scar to the third. Having drawn attention to the Rohana's, who were as much blood-traitors as the Weasley's were, Gwendolyn's death marked the first of several Rohana losses.
Gwendolyn's husband Desmond Dunkirk fell attempting to defend their two children, Thomas and Jean, who were also killed, and shortly after the families of Kiara Rohana and her husband Kyle McLaggen, as well as Arthur Rohana and his wife Xandria were attacked. The only survivor of the two attacks was young Odelia, the eldest daughter of Kiara and Kyle, who was taken in by Landen and his wife, Aeris.
These losses were devastating to Eirawen, but West held on to her and served as a pillar for her to rely on as her family struggled to cope with what it had lost. Eirawen eventually moved in with West and things took a fall from there. He began to carefully manipulate her away from her family and friends, subtly isolating her with comments that caused her to turn to him as opposed to those outside of their relationship. With all that was going on due to the war and her family's loss, her own problems were easy to consider as too insignificant to bother them with. It happened so slowly that she failed to realize what he had done, and by the time the abuse started there was nobody left to turn to - or so it felt, at any rate.
Eirawen fought to hide her bruises at work and consistently lied to save face, but those in professions such as the one she had chosen are not particularly easy to fool in these situations. When it finally reached the point that West's abuse resulted in hospitalization, a concerned party opted to call Eirawen's parents. When Gawain arrived to see his daughter in such a state, his fury was greater than she had ever known him capable of. She tried to convince her father that West was not to blame, but the more she spoke the more Gawain knew his daughter had been well and truly manipulated.
Offering her no chance to argue or disobey him, Gawain had his daughter pack up her things and prepare herself to return home. Unable to defy the most important person in her life, even out of fear for West's anger, Eirawen obeyed and packed with her mother's help. They had just loaded everything into her mother's vehicle when West returned.
The fight between West and Gawain was what finally made Eirawen realize that her father would never have ignored her if she reached out to him, that he never would have thought her problems insignificant or pointless. How she ever could have believed otherwise shocked and shamed her, and she could not understand what was wrong with her to have believed West when she knew her family as well as she did. Her mother assured her that it wasn't her fault, and that there would always be bad people in the world with quicksilver tongues. She would simply have to be more careful from now on.
The downfall of the Dark Lord happened shortly before Eirawen turned twenty-three, and it took two years with her parents and a therapist from that point for Eirawen to fully come to terms with her relationship with West. She had to accept the fact that she was not a horrible, stupid person for falling for him, and it took considerable effort to bring her to that realization. She returned to the magical community and took up courses in magical healing, but the hell was not yet over.
By this point in her life, Eirawen was twenty-seven and over West. She had come to terms with what had happened with him completely. The only remaining hurt he left upon her was the shame she felt in her scar, but her strength had for the most part returned when West decided to return to her life.
Eirawen had never told West that she was a witch - but the truth was she had never needed to. Connor West was a wizard, and very much aware of who Eirawen was - or at the very least, who she was related to. Everything he had done to her had been done with the intention of harming another member of her family entirely - one of Gawain's older brothers, Charles Rohana, who had killed West's father in a Wizard Duel issued in the defense of Charles Muggleborn wife, Courtney. When Eirawen's abuse failed to provide the proper amount of pain upon the Rohana family, West took to more extreme measures. It had taken him all those years to find people to assist him, but once he had them, he did not hesitate.
Cloaked and masked like Death Eaters, West attacked the home of Gawain with the help of two loyal and vicious friends, wishing to make Charles suffer as he had suffered by taking away some of his family.
Vivien was not about to let her husband fight alone, and while Eirawen fought desperately with her rather pathetic shields, her mother stood back with a bow and shot one of the men clear in the throat before another sent the woman flying back with some spell Eirawen was half certain had been a stupefy.
Gawain crossed wands with West himself, when Eirawen's summon finally produced some Aurors. They arrived in time to hear West cast the damning Unforgiveable and stun him and his companion as Gawain fell lifeless to the floor.
Eirawen barely noticed West being carried away as she knelt beside her father's body, screaming for him to get up and shaking off the hand of the concerned Auror who tried to soothe her. She refused to believe West had the strength to cast an Avada strong enough to kill her father, and she did not stop screaming for Gawain until her Auror-revived mother gathered her up and wept into her hair. Only Vivien's acceptance of the loss made her realize the truth, and complete her devastation.
Eirawen buried her father while holding tightly to the hands of her mother and brother, praying to the old gods to keep him safe and hear her promise to make him proud. She would never be a fighter, but he had never wanted that sort of life for his little girl. She would heal, and she would put her all into it, for him.
Returning to school, Eirawen finished her wizarding healing courses and received her final degree from her Muggle university, both of which she used to apply for the position of Assistant Healer at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was thirty-two now, and was glad to be apprenticed to Poppy Pompfrey.
Somehow, perhaps through the skill of the shy or simply by sheer luck, Eirawen has managed to work at Hogwarts for two years without encountering any fellow staff members. As an apprentice, she managed to beg out of meetings with the excuse of needing to study. Whenever a staff member entered the Hospital Wing, she conveniently vanished for much the same reason. However, Poppy now feels that it is time for Miss Rohana's hiding to come to an end. She is simply lovely with the students - why she sees fit to hide from the staff is beyond the Matron, but enough is enough.
Stripping the apprentice title away, Poppy has made it clear that Eirawen is now her personal assistant and soon to be replacement. As such, it is high time she got to know those she would be working with - like it or not!
rp sample~ Eirawen had happily spent the last two years at Hogwarts hiding from sight and almost never leaving the Hospital Wing. The few times that she did, she utilized as many secret halls as she could remember and made her trips quickly. It was not so much that she was afraid of the students - quite the contrary, she adored the children - as it was her desire to avoid her fellow staff members.
When she had been offered a job at St. Mungos, Eirawen had known there would be no way to escape consistent contact with adults, and though she had managed it to finish her schooling - mostly with Dwythe's help whenever her fears overcame her - she knew she just wasn't ready to face the world full on yet and had opted for the position of apprentice and assistant at Hogwarts.
As an apprentice to Madame Pomfrey, Eirawen had the excuses of studying or brewing to avoid contact with the other staff. Poppy was not unobservant of the fact that the woman slated to be her replacement was wonderful with the children and somehow invisible to the staff. She allowed it during Eirawen's first year on account of shyness. During Eirawen's second year, Poppy accepted the various excuses to avoid staff meetings, but she also knew this wasn't going to do.
This year, Poppy had stripped Eirawen of her apprentice title and officially named her as an assistant and her replacement-in-training. She had also sat Eirawen down and told her point blank it was time for her to meet the Hogwarts staff, as they were going to become as much a part of her life as the students, whether she liked it or not.
With a great reluctance, Eirawen accepted that the time had come and was aware she was no longer permitted to avoid the adults on principle.
The women, Eirawen knew she could handle and admittedly did look forward to meeting. She hoped perhaps that she could form a friendship with at least some of them. Dumbledore she didn't mind - she'd known him since childhood, and Minerva too - so that wasn't a problem.
It was the male half of the schools staff that Eirawen had a problem with. All of them were strong, able bodied gentlemen and more than a few of them were unfortunately good looking. Eirawen was no teenage lass at a loss for words before a pretty boy, though with the way she avoided them like the plague one might almost think that her shyness was the problem.
The truth was, Eirawen was terrified of them for a much darker reason. She had loved a man, tall and handsome, with charm to sweep away even the most stubborn of sorts. He had taken her in, made her feel special and adored, and when he had her in a corner, he all but destroyed her.
He took her pride, her passion, her confidence, and left behind a woman battered and bruised in more ways than a doctor's touch could heal. It had taken her years to overcome him, and just as he did he returned and stole from her the life of someone who had meant the world to her.
Connor West had taught Eirawen to fear the smiles and kindnesses of men, and fear them she did. The kinder a man was to her, the less she trusted him. The more he smiled, or tried to touch her, the more scared she became. Eirawen never wanted to fall to the same trap again, and though she knew not all men were cruel, and though she knew some were genuinely kind, she was too afraid to trust openly.
Lost in her thoughts as she made her way to the library with the intention of maybe getting to know the librarian to appease Poppy, Eirawen rounded a corner and promptly collided with something that was placed just below knee height.
The sound of Peeves' laughter filled her ears as Eirawen tumbled forward with the smallest of cries, promptly silenced. Palms out, Eirawen caught herself and managed to roll a bit rather than smash her face into the floor, and found her face mere inches from a pair of well polished black shoes, that were undeniably masculine.
Heart dropping into her stomach, Eirawen realized she was now on the floor at the feet of some unknown man, and the only prayer in her mind was Please, please oh merciful Horse Lords and all Gods of the Hunt, let this be a student.
