birth name~.One of the greater mysteries of the universe, and likely to stay that way for quite some time.
nicknames~ 'Thete', short for ΘΣ, or to those incapable of reading and comprehending Greek, Theta Sigma. Which, coincidentally, is actually a short form in and of itself, of ∂³∑x², or rather Theta Power-Three Sigma Ex Power-Two. Truly though, only those who knew him in his college days would see fit to use any of those names.
To most enemies, he is known as the Oncoming Storm and more specifically to the Daleks as the Defender of the Laws of Time, the Time Lord typically known only as The Doctor has more aliases than a proper person could shake a stick at. Seeing as the proper person tends to only live a fraction of a Time Lord's given lifespans, this is likely rather forgivable.
Most notable among these aliases (Aside from, of course, his universally (and alter-universally) known name as The Doctor) is perhaps what could almost be considered a rather ironic misnomer and as result, tends to award considerable ire when presented. After all 'John Smith' is the classic name of the man who would bear no name.
Although not precisely a 'nickname', it should be also noted that he tends to sign his signature as nothing more than a ?.
age && date of birth~ While the Doctor's true birthdate is, like his name, one of the greater mysteries of the collective universes, he does consistently place himself around the range of 900 years. For those who know the first rule of the Doctor, it is probably not unwise to give or take a few centuries at will.
gender~ Ten incarnations of male and fully intending to stay that way.
species~ The Last of the Time Lords
sexuality~ Awkwardly Heterosexual
occupation~ Defender of the Laws of Time and Space to the more formal idiots, professional traveler and the most irresponsible adult of the universes to just about everyone else.
face claim~ David Tennant
fandom~ Doctor Who
canon / original~ Canon
hair color~ A sort of medium-chestnut brown. He doesn't really pay that much attention to it, seeing as it failed once again to turn out ginger.
eye color~ Brown with copper flecks.
height~ 6'1"
weight~ 165lbs
distinctive features~ New teeth, very expressive left eyebrow and lips that say more when they aren't moving.
general appearance~ The Tenth incarnation of the infamous Doctor is a perfect blend of his predecessors with a touch of modern eccentricity attached. Like many before him, he opts for a fairly formal style of dress that attributes its fit and style to a particular era in Earth fashion.
While the Eighth incarnation had settled for an aristocratic 18th century scholars appearance, Ninth had come to the conclusion that leather coats over casual clothes was perfectly professional for a Time Lord toting around the title of Doctor on every visited planet and era - and perhaps, in part, to have the frank casualty of dress form some sort of silent insult to the Eighth Doctor, whom admittedly caused some stress for his later fellows.
In a contrast and yet mixture of both, Ten preferred a classic pinstriped suit and tie look, or the sharp and simple blue suit and tie that was quite respectable for any 19th - 21st century man seemingly from Earth, seeing as humans do look ever so much like Time Lords.
This manner of stoic professionalism would likely have appealed to many of the earlier generations, but it was the addition of the sturdy duster and - more often then not - very comfortable converse, that seem a bit of a toss-up between eccentricity and tribute to Nine.
The converse shoes which tended to clash horribly with the aforementioned suits were of course quite comfortable and perfectly appropriate for all the running around one does as the Doctor, so perhaps there is something to be said about being practical over fashionable. Though admittedly all clash for comfort aside, the suits are admittedly very well tailored.
Taking aside the fashionable end of things, the Tenth Doctor is a fairly tall man on the thinner side of average, with short, flyaway brown hair that always seems to be reaching for some gravity defying static electric charge that nobody else seems to be aware exists - a style almost reminiscent of the Sixth incarnation, sans all those abominable curls.
His complexion, like his predecessors, is a fair one, and he bears the soulful brown eyes of the vulnerable Fifth incarnation. Like the Fifth, Ten has the habit of using spectacles as props - in other words, wearing them not for the necessity but for the drama and flair of the 'brainy' look.
likes~
The universe is teeming with life, and the Doctor has an unending appreciation for all within the collective universes that have any sense of life. Sentience is not a necessity; all that matters is the essence of life - even plants and single-celled organisms can fill him with a sense of absolutely fascinated joy.
02. TARDIS~
The one companion who has never once left him, who always takes him where he needs to be and is as much a friend as she is a home, as much a gateway to adventure as a comfort when everything falls to pieces, the TARDIS is quite possibly the most important thing to the Doctor in the universes, aside from life itself.
03. COMPANIONS~
Nobody deserves to be alone, and there is nobody more alone in the universe than any individual who can accurately claim to be the very last remaining member of their entire race. The Doctor has lived for hundreds of years and his losses in that time have been immeasurable, but there has almost always been someone by his side to help him absorb the shock and distract him from the pain. Those people, those blessed companions, are the Doctors friends and in some ways, his saviors.
04. ADVENTURE~
When you've lived as long as the Doctor has, you have to accept certain facts. One of those facts is if you aren't busy, things get boring very quickly. Adventure combats everything from boredom to melancholy and it serves the double purpose of keeping the universe (And Earth in particular) safe.
05. THE OOD~
The Ood are a peaceful race of humanoid telepaths whom the Doctor met while on an impossible planet that inexplicably remained in the close proximity of a black hole. A slave-race at the time, they became enslaved by 'The Beast' but were later freed when the Beast was destroyed. Unfortunately, they all perished with the planet, leaving the Doctor with a sense of owing them a great debt, which he and Donna eventually managed to repay by freeing them from human control and reuniting them with the Ood Brain. Since then, the Ood and in particular Ood Sigma have been friendly guides of sorts to the Doctor.[/ul]
dislikes~
Failing to protect someone, to save a race, to defend a planet or just plain bollocking something up period, supremely bothers Ten. He cannot tolerate unnecessary death or loss and, when he feels he could have prevented it but failed to do so, it just compounds his sense of survivors guilt and frustrates him to no end.
02. TAKING UP ARMS~
While the Doctor will not hesitate to destroy anyone who pushes past their second chance and continues to prove a threat to the universe, to Earth, to the Doctor's companions, he almost always finds a way to do it without actually lifting up a weapon. He consistently refuses offers of them, and only once did the situation get dire enough for him to pick one up. Even then, he did not shoot a living person, but rather the diamond aiding the Time Lords escape from the Timelock.
03. THE NEVER-ENDING DALEKS~
The Daleks have been the deadly enemies of the Doctor since his first incarnation, but were supposedly destroyed during the Time War, along with Gallifrey and the Time Lords. Yet when this is proven to be a falsehood, Ten's predecessor put effort into destroying them again - only they're still not done. The Dalek consistently return to the Doctor's life and every time they do, he loses something or even someone that is dear to him. He loses everything, while they continue as though never stopped. How many times does the Doctor have to kill them before they are truly exterminated?
04. DANGER TO OTHERS~
Tying perhaps back to his inability to accept defeat, Ten's extreme protectiveness of his companions results in him being absolutely dangerous when their lives are placed at risk. While he is fairly patient with the dangers presented to individuals he has only just met, he still seeks to protect them. There is, however, no patience whatsoever for any danger presented to Rose Tyler, Martha Jones or Donna Noble.
05. DEATH ~
The death of others is hard enough for him to accept. He has seen so much destruction and loss in his time that the greatest wish he has is to prevent it at all costs. Yet while he will do everything in his power to protect others, the Doctor has the terrible habit of flinging himself into harms way for any number of reasons. He even states at times that he has nothing to live for, but when the Ood tell him that his song is ending, Ten is filled with a determination to live, because he doesn't want to go.[/ul]
habits~
Ten is a bit of a chronic sonic screwdriver user. He relies on it more than one would normally anticipate and he often tests it to new and never before seen uses, until the poor device is almost pushed past capacity.
02. PLAYFULNESS~
A far cry from his First incarnation who was incredibly arrogant and selfish, and would hardly deign to play with inferior human beings, Ten absolutely adores teasing people. Mickey and Jackie are prime examples of this, as he consistently picks up on things that bother them and needles them both mercilessly. Ten truly enjoys banter and games, and he tends to use them to diffuse otherwise tense situations.
03. TERRIBLE DRIVING SKILLS~
Notorious for using his hammer against the TARDIS for percussive maintenance, Ten is about as good a driver as his immediate predecessor, Nine. Which is to say, he is complete and utter rubbish at it.
04. HEIGHTENED SENSES ~
Ten's sense of smell is noticeably increased in comparison to humans, and even some of his predecessors. Rather more akin to a hunting hound than a Time Lord, Ten can actually track fellow Time Lords through his sense of smell. He could also determine the properties of objects by their distinctive tastes.
05. EARTHLY MUSES ~
Ten has the rather entertaining habit of making obscure or blatantly obvious references to 20th century Earth culture, from quoting the Lion King at an army of invading aliens, to crying over the Harry Potter books and taking his companions out to concerts such as Elvis Presley. [/ul]
strengths~
Ten despises loss and needless death more than he values a grudge. He always seeks to try and offer a peaceful alternative and he will offer this even to his greatest enemies. He tried to save the Dalek from themselves, and he also tried to save the Master, both of which could easily be considered enemies better left to die. He failed to bring peace or salvation to either, but both show quite clearly Ten's capacity to forgive.
02. NON-VIOLENT PROTEST~
The Doctor frequently seeks to use wit and to resolve situations through any method other than violence. He will offer many peaceful solutions and compromises in an effort to make sure everyone lives. He is the Ghandi of the Galaxies - just don't call him that. Nobody ever has before and he'll likely find you a bit odd.
03. PROTECTIVENESS ~
When it comes to being the Doctor's companion, there is one thing you can always count on no matter how scary or dangerous things get - and that is the Doctor himself. While he is the sort of person who is determined about preserving life in general, the Doctor is most passionate when he finds his friends in a dangerous situation. Having lost everything and everyone he has ever loved, consistently for so long, it stands to reason that anyone new who becomes a part of his life is someone he cannot bear to lose as well.
04. HUMANITY~
Ten is a lot more human than his predecessors, having a tenacious cling to his own survival at the end of his days that matched the fearful (and even regretful) hold that all short-lived humans tend to have. More than this he had both a sense of justice and a temper, and such a deep respect for humanity itself that in a way he exampled some of the best and worst qualities humans can possess.
05. INTELLECT~
The Doctor's intellect is frequently astonishing. He is capable of everything from mentally completing incredibly complex mathematical equations to detailing effortlessly the intricacies and makeup of alien technology. With an inner knowledge of the very workings of time and space and a lifespan that composes at the very least 900 years of experience, it should perhaps be expected that the Doctor is considerably more intelligent than the average individual. [/ul]
weaknesses~
Although it is not a particularly easy thing to draw forward in a man as old and patient as the Doctor, on the times when lines are crossed and the patience is pushed beyond the breaking point, the temper of Ten is somewhat similar to the lashings out of an enraged teenager with far too much power at his disposal for the overall safety of the universe.
02. COMPANIONS~
They keep dying. Vanishing. Getting lost. Every new companion he gets, the Doctor inevitably must one day face the loss of them. It is a truth that he bears, a truth he hides deep within himself, because he cannot bear to be alone. A truth he cannot face, because if he were to look upon it then the way each and every companion managed to break his heart could very well overwhelm him.
03. RECKLESS ABANDONMENT ~
Literally no sense of self preservation. Whatever there is in the whole of the universes that is truly and genuinely holy, you are welcome to pray to when you place the Doctor's friends in peril, but when it comes to the Doctor himself, he just really can't be fussed. This is the man who says he is always fine even when all evidence points to the contrary, the man who has defended the laws of time and space for longer than perhaps even he cares to remember, but perhaps most importantly - and most dangerously - this is the man who values all life forms above his own.
04. SENSE OF AGE~
Although he rarely shows it, hiding well behind jovial smiles, rapid-fire conversation fueled by excitement at new discoveries and a highly playful nature, the Tenth Doctor is in truth, a very old man. There are days when he feels this not in his bones, but rather his very soul. He has seen the end of his entire race, the end of galaxies and worlds, the destruction and savagery of more wars than he would ever care to count, and there are days when those memories weigh heavily upon his mind and heart.
05. DEEP LONELINESS ~
Survivor's guilt is a pain that the Doctor has had to face and overcome since the Time War. Being the only one of his race to survive - or so he believed until he met once again with the Master, who also died - the Doctor is left with nothing but the TARDIS for consistent company, and she rarely has the opportunity to truly speak with him. He frequently finds companions to fill the empty void that is the all consuming loneliness of his existence, but they too eventually leave him abandoned and heartbroken. [/ul]
goals~ To see everyone safe, alive and happy.
secrets~ His true name and age.
overall personality~ Throughout his various generations the Doctor has been known for his arrogance, and as cheerful and playful as Ten is, he is not exempt from this rule of thumb either. He has moments where he considers himself superior to other beings and even moments where he goes too far in his temper, his pride, than he has any right to.
The Time Lord victorious is perhaps his darkest moment, when he went against a fixed point in time primarily to prove to himself that it could be done, that he could in fact exert that much control over time itself. Once again Donna's words about needing someone to tell him when to stop came into play - and thankfully the human involved was able to rewrite what he had done, forcing Ten into learning a very hard lesson.
All darker aspects aside however, Ten does have a very upbeat personality. While it is true that a lot of his happy nature is a front to hide how lonely and prone to temper he truly is, the fact of the matter is this is a Doctor who knows how to have fun. He speaks a mile a minute, is utterly brilliant, and has a reckless streak a mile wide - unless its one of his companions. He's pretty protective of them. Himself though - eh, not so much.
home town~ The House of Lungbarrow in the southern mountain ranges of Gallifrey
current residence~ The TARDIS
parents~ Unknown
siblings~ Irving Braxiatel
pets~ The Ood?
family~ The Doctor has deliberately kept himself from reflections on his family for hundreds of years. Finding his relations would take incredible work and dedication in this day and age, especially since the Time War and the Fall of Gallifrey. He did, at one point, have sons and daughters as well as three known grandchildren, Susan Foreman, John and Gillian. Most recently, as his Tenth Incarnation, a genetic sample was taken from him which generated another 'daughter' who was later named Jenny. In this day and age, the closest things the Doctor has to family members are his companions.
history~ The Doctor claims to be 900 years old, though the fact of the matter is he is far older than even that quote. As such, his history is exceptionally prolix by nature.
Before his first incarnation regenerated, he was 400 years of age - and he is currently the Tenth incarnation of himself, so one can easily imagine there is a lot of ground to be covered.
The Doctor is very tight lipped about his past however, so in honor of that we shall consider everything before the Ninth incarnation to be 'spoilers'.
During his time as the Ninth Doctor, he came into contact with a human girl named Rose Taylor, who became his companion as he adventured through time and space in the TARDIS. During these adventures he came to know some of the people important to Rose, including her mother Jackie and her on again off again boyfriend Ricky - er, Mickey, that is.
Due to Rose's request, the Doctor also met her father, who had died when she was a baby. Of course, he knew doing this had its risks and of course, Rose did mess up the timeline a little bit. Aside from a bit of unhappiness on both their parts, things did manage to fix things up.
Of course, Rose and the Doctor also met an alternative version of her father, but we'll get to that later. For now we're going to address a few more things encountered as the Ninth Doctor, for a bit of background. Or foreshadowing, whichever you prefer.
During his incarnation as the Ninth Doctor, he kept very loyal to a single companion by the name of Rose Tyler, with occasional trips taken with Rose's mother and on-again, off again boyfriend Mickey (Whom he insisted on calling Ricky, to irritate him)
He also had a slight companionship with Jack Harkness, which we will expand on later. What is most important about Nine's incarnation is the fact that he brought a resolution to the Time War after a trip to year 200,100 with Rose.
Discovering that the Emperor of the Dalek's had not been destroyed in the Time War and now commanded an army of Dalek prepared to destroy everything in their path, he sent the TARDIS back to the 21st century with Rose inside, intending to sacrifice himself in order to obliterate the Dalek scourge once and for all.
However, the Doctor did not account for Rose's determination to keep him alive. She managed to unlock the heart of the TARDIS itself and absorbed the Time Vortex into herself. She became the Bad Wolf entity and returned to the future, where she declared the Time War over and turned the Dalek fleet into nothing but scattered atoms with a wave of her hand.
Knowing that Rose would die from cellular degeneration if she kept the Time Vortex inside her, the Doctor took the Time Vortex into himself by kissing her. This forced him to regenerate, thus leading us to the man we're meant to be discussing - the Doctor's tenth incarnation.
The arrival of the new Doctor shocked Rose, who had no idea the Doctor was capable of regenerating himself in such a manner. Although perfectly willing to continue their adventures right where they left off and head straight out to Barcelona, Rose's clearly shaken appearance caused the Doctor to instead return them to her time, where after crashing the TARDIS and greeting Jackie and Mickey with a happy Christmas, he promptly fainted.
While the Doctor was out of commission, aliens took the liberty of invading Earth. With the Doctor out of commission and the TARDIS not translating the Syntorax language, Rose reached the decision to take the recuperating Doctor into the TARDIS and hide, as millions of people were responding to some form of Syntorax mind-control and walking as though hypnotized to the roofs of tall buildings and standing on the edge, prepared to jump.
Unwilling to board the TARDIS for an unknown amount of time without proper provisions, Jackie brought aboard groceries and left to gather more. The Syntorax noticed the TARDIS at this time and summoned it onto their ship, leaving Jackie alone on Earth. When she didn't return promptly, Rose stepped out and was confronted by the Syntorax army. She was forced to act as the voice of Earth's leader, and was unable to deescalate the situation.
Revived by the tea spilled by Jackie earlier, the Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS and challenged the Syntorax leader to a duel after attempts to negotiate were proven pointless. The prize for the winner being Earth itself, the Doctor was hardly about to lose - though he did get his hand cut off.
Still being within his first 15 hours of regeneration, it regrew as a 'fighting hand' and the Doctor defeated the Syntorax leader. While walking away, the Doctor was attacked again and the Syntorax leader was the first to learn that the Tenth Doctor did not believe in second chances. The attack from behind secured the death of the Syntorax leader and the retreat of his people from Earth.
However, as the Syntorax ship was retreating, the acting Prime Minister of Britain gave a command to an agency known as Torchwood. The Torchwood agents fired off a weapon that was created by alien tech, the result of one of Torchwood's projects. The weapon atomized the ship and everything in it, resulting in the Doctor demanding to know what Harriet Jones - the woman who gave the order - thought she was doing.
Harriet believed she had done the right thing - she had just protected her planet. The Doctor pointed out that the Syntorax were leaving, but Harriet argued they might have returned or told others about Earth. Infuriated by her shameless act of genocide, the Doctor told her he could end her rule with just six words - which he whispered to her aide.
Don't you think she looks tired? was all it took to bring Harriet Jones out of office, and ended the introduction of the Tenth Doctor. The adventures continued on with Rose and the two encountered a great many things, including the return of the Cybermen in an alternate universe and the loss of Mickey to said universe.
Actually, lets expand on that, since we did hint on it back in the Ninth Doctor segment. Remember that comment about Rose's dad? Well, in this alternate reality her father was alive and very successful. Unfortunately, his marriage to Jackie was straining toward divorce and neither individual was particularly happy with their lives. Interestingly, the Rose of this reality was a Yorkshire terrier. There's a joke in there somewhere.
In this verse there was an alternate Mickey named - you guessed it - Ricky, who's grandmother was still alive. Ricky was the leader of an organization looking to reveal the deceptions put in place by Cybus Industries and prove that Cybus was the reason people kept going missing.
The owner of Cybus Industries brought the Cybermen to life on the parallel Earth, and the alternative Jackie was made into one. The Doctor knew that disabling the emotional inhibitor would destroy the Cybermen, who would not be able to cope with what they had become. Mickey was the one who decrypted the code from the Lumic database and sent it to Rose's phone, allowing the Doctor to insert it into a conveniently located piece of equipment and submit a shut down to the inhibitors in all the Cybermen.
Its at this point as everyone is getting ready to leave the parallel world that Mickey is lost - he chooses to stay behind with his grandmother, since the 'Mickey' of this world died trying to escape the Cybermen. The Doctor tells Mickey he won't ever be able to return - that the door to the alternate world would close for good - but Mickey is content with his choice to stay behind.
A handful of adventures later - including a trip to an impossible planet hovering on the edge of a black hole without being consumed - and things go straight to pot all over again. The Cybermen return - and so do the Dalek. The cockroaches of the universe just never stop, do they? Before we get to that though, lets talk about that impossible planet for a moment, because that's where we first meet the Ood - and frankly, the Ood are fantastic.
So, the Doctor and Rose arrive in a space station on an impossible planet where they encounter an ominous inscription the TARDIS cannot translate. Moments later, we meet the Ood who appear to be dangerous - though its really their translator's acting up. A peaceful herd race who have become the servants of humans, the Ood work on the station with the crew.
The fact that Krop Tor was capable of remaining in orbit despite the black hole beside it was the very anomaly that drew the Doctor's attention. Unfortunately, the power source keeping the planet in orbit could not stop (or perhaps chose not to stop) the earthquakes that shook the station - one of which shut down two sections and resulted in the TARDIS falling to the core of the planet, leaving Rose and the Doctor stranded.
Not long after this, one of the ships crew is possessed by a malevolent force and the Ood's translation spheres start saying very strange things about 'The Beast' awaking to make war on God. One of the crew members gets sucked into space and the rest of the team manage to finish drilling to the planet's core. The Doctor and a woman named Ida descend and discover a massive cavern where the power source is located. A large circular disc is set into the floor, covered in indecipherable writing, which the Doctor suspects is some form of trap door.
Meanwhile on the base, the telepathic abilities of the Ood rises to Basic 100 - more than high enough to induce brain death, and yet all of them remain alive. The 'Beast' makes itself known through the possessed human Toby, then seemingly transfers to the Ood, who identify themselves as Legion. Anyone even remotely familiar with certain beliefs would, at this point, be shitting bricks, but that's a moot point, because back in the core of the planet, the Tenth Doctor is facing the black chasm hidden beyond the trap door.
Thinking that the Beast is relying on temptation and curiosity to get them to go into the chasm, the Doctor suggests they retreat, as Rose protects Toby upstairs from being shot for his role while he was possessed. The Ood are attacking and the plan is to activate Strategy 9 - open the airlocks while everyone is safe in lockdown and have all the Ood sucked out into space. Unfortunately, the lift up to the base breaks, leaving the Doctor and Ida stranded below.
As situations grow increasingly dire and the Beast plays on the fundamental fear of precisely what he claims to be, the Doctor decides to enter the Pit. He tells Ida as he descends that the Devil appears in so many religions that perhaps that is all the Devil is - an idea. When his cable runs out, he detaches it and falls the rest of the way despite Ida's pleas not to. When the others regain communication with her, she tells the the Doctor has fallen.
In the Pit, the Doctor comes to and realizes that though his faceplate has broken, he can still breathe. Rose also awakens, having refused to leave the Doctor behind and getting knocked out for her efforts. She is aboard the escape rocket and despite her threats, it is too late to go back for anyone. Toby seems oddly amused, and Rose questions how easy it was for them all to escape considering how easily the Beast could have killed them. As Toby reprimands her for these doubts, the Doctor comes face to face with a gigantic demon chained to the cavern wall.
The towering creature was animalistic and angry, with none of the cool intellect and verbal skills seen previously, causing the Doctor to realize he is seeing the physical form of the Beast but that the mind is elsewhere. The penny drops and the Tenth Doctor calculates that the mind of the Beast has fled and that it is banking on the Doctor's refusal to kill Rose to keep it alive. The Doctor points out that Rose is not a victim, and that if there is anything in the universe he believes in, it is her.
With that, he destroys the Beast's body and when the mind of the Beast takes full control of Toby again, Rose shoots the window of the rocket and unbuckles him, causing Toby and the mind of the Beast to be swallowed by the black hole. As for how she and the crew escape - remember the whole TARDIS fell to the core of the world part? Yes well, conveniently, core of the world and Beast's prison were one and the same, so guess who pulls the rocket away from the hole? Yeah, TARDIS really is that awesome. (Okay, so the Doctor steered)
Now, back to the whole Dalek and Cybermen thing. Lets be really lazy and start summing up quickly. The Dalek arrive from the Void, the Cybermen from the alternate reality, and with the help of Mickey who has reality jumping technology and Torchwood who is ripping holes in things otherwise known as reality, the Doctor opens the Void so that everything covered in 'Void stuff' would be sucked into it.
Knowing that he, Rose and the others were also covered in Void stuff, the Doctor sent Rose, against her will, to the parallel world, along with Mickey and co where they would be safe. Rose, being Rose, returned anyway to help him open the Void. The Cybermen and the Dalek were taken in, but then Rose's lever failed and she was almost sucked into the Void but alter!Daddy managed to save her and take her back to the alternate universe. The Doctor managed to see her one more time to say goodbye and, though Rose confessed her love for him, their time was cut short before the Doctor could confirm or deny his own.
After this, an impossible bride pops onto the TARDIS and bitchslaps the Doctor for kidnapping her on her wedding day. Which, actually, he didn't do, but that's Donna Noble for you. Things happen, aliens trying to take over the universe, the Doctor says no, they don't listen, so he drowns them all while the backdrops on fire. Donna says time to stop, so they go, and when the Doctor invites her to join him she tells him to find someone who can tell him when to stop. Which, ironically, turns out to be her - she just doesn't know it yet.
Next we meet Medical Student Martha, who restarts the Doctor's hearts a couple times during their journeys - no, literally. Their first meeting she had to CPR him, and another time when Shakespeare met Harry Potter she had to give one of his hearts a sucker punch, but anyway. We meet the Face of Boe again and he tells the Doctor he is not alone, and though Rose got a werewolf, Martha got a were-Dalek. Basically, a Dalek with a human body and a suit - long story short, Cult of Skaro idea and it died.
Then the Doctor has some fun-times as John Smith by putting his Time Lord self into a pocket watch with the good old Chameleon Arch in order to hide from the Family of Blood and failing to tell miss Martha what to do when he falls in love with a person - since honestly that idea never even occurred to him. Then there is super duper fun times when we meet the Weeping Angels for the first time.
Oh and remember Mister Jack
So, Masterful joys take place when he brings an army of Toclafane to invade the world and imprisons the Doctor for a year, then artificially ages him 900 years and thus transforming him into Smeagol's rejected inbred cousin. And for the sake of keeping this important part remotely serious, WIKIQUOTE TIME:
The Master was later defeated by manipulation of his Archangel Network, to the Doctor's own advantage. The Doctor displayed great powers during this period, using the psychic energy of the Earth's people, who had been told by Martha to think of the Doctor at a specific moment. He restored his young appearance and manipulated the powers to grant himself almost god-like abilities.
Ending the wiki quote, we now have the Doctor approaching the Master and forgiving him. Remember that forgiving nature in the list bar, this is it rearing its head again. After earning the Master's reluctant surrender and fixing everything, the Master is shot by his human wife (Didn't mention her until now, and not going to bother expanding) Refusing to be the Doctor's prisoner, the Master chose instead to refuse regeneration and die in his arms.
This is where Martha and the Doctor part their ways, as Martha's unrequited love for him causes her to step away. So the Doctor goes off on his own and crashes into the Titanic - or the Titanic crashes into him, come to think of it. You know what, don't ask. Its not really the Titanic, so much as Space Titanic - ah hell, nevermind. Its the freaking Titanic and it crashed into the TARDIS, carrying on.
Remember bridal bitchslap Donna? Well guess who's back? Yes, its her and she is here to tell the Doctor no. We love Donna, yes we do. So, more adventures happen (When are there ever not adventures?) including the Doctor facing off giant fire beings with a water pistol - teeny, tiny little water pistol, and you know who won that little battle of wills - and comedy aside, also realizing he's the person who blew up Pompeii. Or let it happen. Either way, damn. Donna convinced him to save some people though, which is #15 in the list of a thousand reasons why she is awesome.
Martha gets a cameo, Doctor gets a daughter (More don't ask) Donna solves a murder with Agatha Christie, and then we all get to meet River Song. Long story short, Eleven is a much luckier Doctor, because he gets to know her so much better. (Get your mind out of the gutter)
So River Song knows the Doctor from the future (Obviously, seeing as that whole Eleven comment) and evil shadows are eating people (Okay, so its the Vashta Nerada, microscopic carnivorous creatures that use shadows to hunt and latch onto their prey, but for really quick writing purposes totally defeated by this explanation, we will say the shadows eat people) and computers are saving souls and at the end of the day the Doctor data saves River and we carry on.
Bad Wolf and Davros come back because really, why not? Twenty-seven planets are stolen - hints have been dropped for ages and we didn't cover those hints, but trust me they were there - so the Doctor and his friends have to save the universe, wee. Things happen, Doctor has to regenerate, he's not interested and remember the not-so-fighting hand that got chopped off? Failed to mention he got that back in a jar, but anyway he put the regeneration energy to heal himself and put the rest into the jar-hand so he wouldn't have to become a new Doctor and went back to fixing things. Problem was, Donna touched it and a meta-crisis happened resulting in the Doctor Donna of the Ood prophesy (Which was also bypassed, Planet of the Ood episode might get a whole section to itself later, just not now) Now again, for sake of seriousness, WIKIQUOTE TIME TWO:
DoctorDonna disabled the planet powered Reality Bomb to stop Davros from destroying the entire universe and then the three Doctors sent the planets back to their original time and space. The Doctor was horrified by the actions of the new Doctor, who wiped out the last remaining members of the Dalek race, knowing they had the numbers to take the universe by force.
As the Doctor's companions fled to safety in the TARDIS, the Doctor offered to save Davros and Caan. Davros refused, hatefully denouncing the Doctor as "The Destroyer of Worlds", while Caan predicted that one of the Doctor's companions would perish. The Children of Time used the TARDIS to tow Earth back to its original point in time and space. The Doctor said his goodbyes to Sarah Jane, Martha, Jack and Mickey before he left the new Doctor in a parallel world, hoping that Rose and the new Doctor would be able to help each other. The new Doctor was able to tell Rose that he loved her and they kissed. Upon returning to his own universe, the Doctor was forced to remove all of Donna's Time Lord abilities and memories of traveling with him, as they would have eventually killed her. He returned Donna to her mother and grandfather, and told them that they would have to make sure she never remembered him.
And end wikiquoting for the rest of the day, here's hoping. So, after saying goodbye to Donna, the Doctor is on his own. While on his own, he met a man with amnesia who thought he was an incarnation of the Doctor but wasn't really, reunited said man with his son after getting rid of some Cybermen, then later met a thief and rejected her companionship after their adventure. Though he did 'step into a police box to 'arrest himself' during that time.
The most recent adventure of the Doctor had him on Mars, and marks his greatest moment of arrogance in this incarnation. Upon arrival he knew that he was in a fixed point and he couldn't save the people there - but then he decided he didn't care and tried to do so anyway. When he succeeded, he declared himself 'the Time Lord victorious', which Adelaide Brooke, the fixed point he'd saved, denounced as wrong. Adelaide, knowing what her death would bring for the human race because the Doctor had told her in an effort to reassure her before he decided not to let her die after all, entered her home and shot herself, thus keeping the timeline relatively the same. Realizing what he had done, the Doctor returned to the TARDIS, but not before seeing Ood Sigma and hearing the Cloister Bell. Still refusing to face his fate, the Tenth Doctor activated her and took his sweet time in answering any Oodly summons.

Yanking down two red levers, the Doctor pulled the TARDIS into a sudden stop, not realizing he was using the emergency brakes yet again and therefore causing the rather unfortunate wheezing sound he would one day be admonished for by River Song. With a shuddering jerk that sent him sprawling over the console, the TARDIS settled with a groan that one could almost consider protest.
Grinning widely, Ten gave the console a fond pat and praised his beloved old girl before quickly dashing to the door to peek his head out. A cursory glance of the space-car filled street was enough confirmation for the Doctor to know he had accurately landed himself in the good old year five billion. Popping himself back inside, he turned to call to Donna before freezing.
For a long moment, there was silence in the TARDIS as the Doctor once more took into the account that he was very much alone with her now. Rose was gone - safe and happy with her own Doctor in her own dimension. Martha was - Martha was brilliant. Always brilliant, that Martha. Donna - good old Donna - could never truly remember, whatever uses it may have in the worst case scenario.
Thinning his lips unhappily, the Doctor turned his back on the TARDIS console and thrust open the doors, stalking out with a purpose before locking her up and slipping her a few seconds out of time in order to better keep her safe. Turning back towards New York - or rather New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New York - the Doctor made his way toward the center of the city with the intention of visiting a very old friend.
"Well it's not really visiting now is it? I mean he is dead after all," the Doctor commented brightly to his shadow, as constant a companion as the TARDIS and therefore perfectly acceptable to discuss such matters with. "Still, I imagine I owe him one last visit, even if it's just in memory."
The Doctor didn't linger long, even though he felt that perhaps the Face of Boe deserved more than just a long moment of silence in the place where he passed. Still he knew there were many others to whom he must say goodbye and he did, at least, wish to see them that one last time.
Not to mention of course, at least a few more adventures. Fate could wait, as far as Ten was concerned. As he turned away, he paused just long enough to let whatever lingered still know that soon, a part of the Doctor - specifically, this part - would be joining him soon.
Making his way back toward the TARDIS, Ten found himself battling down once more the near all-consuming feelings of loneliness and regret that had begun to take over since the moment he heard poor, foolish, wonderful Adelaide Brooke take her own life in order to correct his most arrogant mistake.
The memory of Ood Sigma returned to him, and Ten shook his head. He wasn't going - he wasn't ready, even if he had made a promise to the Face of Boe's memory only moments ago - and maybe that too was arrogant and wrong, but if he didn't mess with any fixed points then maybe, maybe it would be okay.
Opening the doors of the TARDIS, Ten found himself frozen once again, not because of the emptiness, but rather because of the fact there was, indeed, someone inside.
"What?" Ten muttered, his face and voice reflecting astonishment as he dashed inside, pulling the doors shut behind him and racing toward the figure leaning over the TARDIS' console. "How did you - "
The words died on his throat as two things registered simultaneously. First, the fact the figure was incorporeal - a projection through time and space as a matter of fact - and second, the expression and stance itself. He knew it - oh how he knew that look, down to his very soul and inside every corner of his hearts. He knew that sorrow better than anyone, for that sorrow was the same he had faced ever since he left Donna Noble, his last companion, on Earth without a single memory of their time together.
"What," He whispered, a far quieter exclamation than usually made when Ten found himself faced with something truly extraordinary. Reaching out, Ten hesitantly made as though to touch the bow-tie just as the image vanished, shimmering from existence like a mirage. In that moment - that very second, as the afterimage of an impossible apparition - Ten knew exactly what he was going to do with the rest of his time.
He was going to save himself, from himself, with himself. Oh, time. The fabric of which would soon hate him. Turning away from where he had once stood - and would one day stand - Ten began pulling on the TARDIS controls. Oh this was bad and he knew it - visiting one's future self was always a risky business. Risky to the point of kicking cracks in time, as a matter of fact.
"Come on, old girl!" The Doctor urged, unwittingly pushing her harder than he ought to, but successfully managing the right levers in roughly the correct sequence for what he wished to accomplish.
The TARDIS did have to compensate here and there - she had been the one to show him the image after all -so she knew where he needed to be, far better than the Doctor himself knew. She'd seen her thief alone to the point that it made her ache. Perhaps together, they could find a way to ease their shared hurts.
It would have helped if Ten had been a bit easier and a bit less of an ignoramus at the controls though. It was tricky business to merge ones self into ones self even with proper control. Then of course, there was Ten himself. He probably wasn't going to appreciate the next part of their journey.
With an almighty rumble and a loud groan, the two TARDIS merged together, pulling forward from time the closest Doctor from the past to help heal the one standing in her chambers now. The result of the merge for Ten was something similar to being compressed into a tiny tube and shot out into the center of two earth plates as they cracked together after an earthquake.
Stumbling forward and almost crashing into his older self - how older? Was this his own, personal regeneration? No time to think of that, the world (or the TARDIS, maybe both) was spinning and his bones were most unhappy. Goodness, for an older self he certainly did look young didn't he?
"Excuse me," he gasped, grasping hold of the TARDIS console beside himself in order to get a better sense of his own personal gravity. "Oh, don't do that," he groaned as he leaned over the controls. "Never, ever do that. Oh, that's new." he murmured, distracted from the pain by an entirely new lever on the TARDIS. He'd have pulled it if he wasn't still so dizzy, so perhaps the after-effects of the TARDIS merge was a good thing. After all, his older self would need a moment to accept his presence before he started pushing and poking things.
