Yanking down two red levers, the Doctor pulled the TARDIS into a sudden stop, not realizing he was using the emergency brakes yet again and therefore causing the rather unfortunate wheezing sound he would one day be admonished for by River Song. With a shuddering jerk that sent him sprawling over the console, the TARDIS settled with a groan that one could almost consider protest.
Grinning widely, Ten gave the console a fond pat and praised his beloved old girl before quickly dashing to the door to peek his head out. A cursory glance of the space-car filled street was enough confirmation for the Doctor to know he had accurately landed himself in the good old year five billion. Popping himself back inside, he turned to call to Donna before freezing.
For a long moment, there was silence in the TARDIS as the Doctor once more took into the account that he was very much alone with her now. Rose was gone - safe and happy with her own Doctor in her own dimension. Martha was - Martha was brilliant. Always brilliant, that Martha. Donna - good old Donna - could never truly remember, whatever uses it may have in the worst case scenario.
Thinning his lips unhappily, the Doctor turned his back on the TARDIS console and thrust open the doors, stalking out with a purpose before locking her up and slipping her a few seconds out of time in order to better keep her safe. Turning back towards New York - or rather New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New York - the Doctor made his way toward the center of the city with the intention of visiting a very old friend.
"Well it's not really visiting now is it? I mean he is dead after all," the Doctor commented brightly to his shadow, as constant a companion as the TARDIS and therefore perfectly acceptable to discuss such matters with. "Still, I imagine I owe him one last visit, even if it's just in memory."
The Doctor didn't linger long, even though he felt that perhaps the Face of Boe deserved more than just a long moment of silence in the place where he passed. Still he knew there were many others to whom he must say goodbye and he did, at least, wish to see them that one last time.
Not to mention of course, at least a few more adventures. Fate could wait, as far as Ten was concerned. As he turned away, he paused just long enough to let whatever lingered still know that soon, a part of the Doctor - specifically, this part - would be joining him soon.
Making his way back toward the TARDIS, Ten found himself battling down once more the near all-consuming feelings of loneliness and regret that had begun to take over since the moment he heard poor, foolish, wonderful Adelaide Brooke take her own life in order to correct his most arrogant mistake.
The memory of Ood Sigma returned to him, and Ten shook his head. He wasn't going - he wasn't ready, even if he had made a promise to the Face of Boe's memory only moments ago - and maybe that too was arrogant and wrong, but if he didn't mess with any fixed points then maybe, maybe it would be okay.
Opening the doors of the TARDIS, Ten found himself frozen once again, not because of the emptiness, but rather because of the fact there was, indeed, someone inside.
"What?" Ten muttered, his face and voice reflecting astonishment as he dashed inside, pulling the doors shut behind him and racing toward the figure leaning over the TARDIS' console. "How did you - "
The words died on his throat as two things registered simultaneously. First, the fact the figure was incorporeal - a projection through time and space as a matter of fact - and second, the expression and stance itself. He knew it - oh how he knew that look, down to his very soul and inside every corner of his hearts. He knew that sorrow better than anyone, for that sorrow was the same he had faced ever since he left Donna Noble, his last companion, on Earth without a single memory of their time together.
"What," He whispered, a far quieter exclamation than usually made when Ten found himself faced with something truly extraordinary. Reaching out, the Doctor hesitantly made as though to touch the bow-tie just as the image vanished, shimmering from existence like a mirage. In that moment - that very second, as the afterimage of an impossible apparition - the Tenth Doctor knew exactly what he was going to do with the rest of his time.
He was going to save himself, from himself, with himself. Oh, time. The fabric of which would soon hate him. Turning away from where he had once stood - and would one day stand - the Doctor began pulling on the TARDIS controls. Oh this was bad and he knew it - visiting one's future self was always a risky business. Risky to the point of kicking cracks in time, as a matter of fact.
"Come on, old girl!" The Doctor urged, unwittingly pushing her harder than he ought to, but successfully managing the right levers in roughly the correct sequence for what he wished to accomplish.
The TARDIS did have to compensate here and there - she had been the one to show him the image after all -so she knew where he needed to be, far better than the Doctor himself knew. She'd seen her thief alone to the point that it made her ache. Perhaps together, they could find a way to ease their shared hurts.
It would have helped if Ten had been a bit easier and a bit less of an ignoramus at the controls though. It was tricky business to merge ones self into ones self even with proper control. Then of course, there was the Doctor himself. Thanks to his incorrect handling, he'd managed to block one of her overrides. He probably wasn't going to appreciate the next part of their journey.
With an almighty rumble and a loud groan, the TARDIS landed as close to the future Doctor as she could manage considering what Ten had somehow managed to pull off. He was the closest past incarnation to the one who needed help now, but that didn't change the fact they were still visiting the Doctor's own timeline. The TARDIS had intended to merge herself inside of herself, but with her override cancelled, the best she could manage was Earth, 2011, outside the home of the future Doctor's companions.
Even though it wasn't a merge, the pulling forward into ones own timeline resulted in the Doctor experiencing something similar to being compressed into a tiny tube and shot out into the center of two earth plates as they cracked together after an earthquake.
Stumbling off the console platform and almost crashing into the doors of the TARDIS, the Doctor wondered what had happened and where his older self had vanished to. Then he stopped wondering, because the world (or the TARDIS, maybe both) was spinning and his bones were most unhappy. Goodness, but this was not his best landing.
"Well done old girl," he gasped, making it back to the console and grasping hold of it in order to get a better sense of his own personal gravity. "We will not be doing this again," he groaned as he leaned over the controls. "Never, ever again," he muttered, before shaking off some of his headache and straightening.
His other self wasn't in the TARDIS, indicating to him that of course, the other Doctor must have gone out. Patting the TARDIS console fondly, the Doctor turned and made his way to the doors, stepping out onto an unfamiliar lawn just as someone he'd never seen before stepped out of the house belonging to said lawn, likely responding to the very familiar sounds of a TARDIS materializing with the parking brakes on.
"Oh, hello," he greeted jovially, seeing as he was on the woman's lawn. "I'm the Doctor." And that's when everything went weird.

Amy jumped back in surprise. Scalding water splashed everywhere and quickly spread across the kitchen floor. Luckily Amy had been quick enough not to get a drop on her. the water settled at the sole of her boots. Her heart pounded in her chest but after taking a deep breath she was alright. Her fright turned quickly to annoyance. There went that pot of tea and a new mess to clean up.
“Oh good.” she muttered sarcastically a loud.
Amy mind had been clouded the last several days with thoughts of him. The departure of her best friend weighed heavily in Amy’s chest. She hated not seeing him everyday and knowing that she would probably never see him again, made her feel even worse. Rory hadn’t heard a thing or come running. The running shower must have blocked the noise. She grabbed the mop and went to work. The floor steamed as if it gave off its own heat. When the area was cleared Amy bent over and picked up the fallen teakettle. Thankfully it was metal and not glass like the nicer one they had. She sighed and set it in the sink.
Leaning forward on the counter Amy’s mind drifted again to the Doctor. Slowly she raised her head and stared out the kitchen window. When he had last left them she understood his reasoning and while she didn’t like it there was no point in fighting. She had to accept the fact that he didn’t want to see her or Rory killed. Then her memory flashed back to Utah and Lake Silencio. That was still in the Doctor’s future. Amy swallowed past the lump in her throat and tried not to think about it. She busied herself with further cleaning up the mess she made all due to her carelessness.
As Amy wrung the mop head out in the sink, lost in the thoughts of the days passed and her times traveling across the universe she heard a familiar sound. She froze. This was it; Amy had finally snapped she was hearing things that could not possibly be there. Carefully Amy set the mop down and dried her hands on the dishtowel. The sound was still there. Had her memories become so vivid that her mind would play cruel tricks on her such as this? But no this was the real thing. It had to be. Amy raced to the front of the house.
“Rory?” Amy called. He didn’t answer; he must have still been in the shower. “Rory!”
Not wanting to wait for her husband who was clearly to busy cleaning himself than to pay attention to the sound of the TARDIS landing. Amy had heard this sound so often in her dreams since the Doctor left and she thought she wouldn’t hear it again. Opening the door to their house and buzzing with anticipation Amy saw the big blue box marked “Police” materialize on their lawn. A great grin stretched her face tugging so tight that it almost hurt to hold it. She stood staring at the TARDIS in excitement frozen on the spot wanting so much to run to the door and bang on it as hard as she could. Amy stayed where she was though waiting to see if the Doctor popped out to great her the way he always did. Instead of that stupid looking bowtie and suspenders with the tweed jacket another man sauntered out through the doors. He was tall, gangly and wore a brown pinstriped suit. A suit that rang a bell of familiarity in Amy’s consciousness, and it wasn’t until he introduced himself as the Doctor that Amy realized where she had seen that suit before. She stared at him as if she were looking at a ghost. Amy was smart enough to make the connection but it didn’t mean she had to like it.
“Amy Pond.” she replied half distracted. She was double-checking his entire outfit. There wasn’t the faintest smile on her lips. She realized she was staring and shook her head meeting his eyes finally. He didn’t even look like her Doctor, not in the face and most importantly the eyes. It was someone completely different. “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to stare it’s just…I think I know you.”
Amy hesitated momentarily. “When I was seven there was a man who crash-landed in my backyard, he had a blue box. That blue box and he wore that suit, except it was all torn and messed up.” She moved forward to examine him more. He was taller than the Doctor she knew. He was much more handsome too, she pushed that thought from her mind. She smiled a little more in wonder, “But you can’t be him. You’re so different.”
Amy was caught off guard by this version of the Doctor. There was a part of her that didn’t want to believe there had ever been another Doctor but he was around 900 years old there were bound to be other incarnations. She didn’t expect one of them to literally turn up on her doorstep. Amy stood back and held her hands over her face for a moment about ready to cry. Seeing the suit alone brought back memories of the Raggedy Doctor. She let out a small bit of laughter, in an attempt to keep from crying. Why would she cry over someone she had never met before?
“Oh god, you don’t know who I am.” she finally realized and when she said this her heart sank. She stepped back again her awe turning to frustration, why couldn’t it be her Doctor to have come back to see her? This was unfair. |

"Amy Pond," the Doctor repeated, turning the name over on his lips before he flashed a smile. "Brilliant name, Amy Pond," He tossed out casually, giving a slight tilt of his head as he did so. It was a characteristic twitch of his, though he'd never taken the time to acknowledge it - the head flicking, that is. Without realizing he was echoing his future self, or perhaps even creating some form of paradox in which his future self echoed him, the Doctor frowned a bit as he noted the way he was being stared at. It wasn't the usual look people gave him - and there were many looks people had when they first met him. It seemed contemplative and sad, which felt rather out of place and disconcerting. When she spoke, the tumblers fell into place.
He got the timeline right, most likely. He had landed somewhere in his future - not a clue where, but then that was why it was his future - and he had found someone who knew him. Good old TARDIS had probably seen to that part. Shifting a bit with the realization that her sad look was probably disappointment in the fact he wasn't her Doctor, Ten was about to say something when she spoke again. Her words brought a chill to his spine as he imagined with disturbing ease the crash landing of a new incarnation, his own suit tattered and 'messed up' as it were. It was not a reassuring nor a comforting thought.
That was the other problem with visiting the future. It confirmed the fact he had to leave, eventually, and let another Doctor take his place. Confirmed that he would, eventually, be just memories. Blinking, the Doctor tore himself from that train of thought and looked back at the redheaded Amy Pond, who looked very much like she was full of unhappy. Feeling as though he was rather responsible for this, Ten rubbed the back of his head awkwardly and thinned out his lips as he cocked his head to the left.
"Well, I am him," He started, in an effort to reassure her a little bit with something familiar. "Well, not him exactly, but close. No - not really close, exactly, so much as younger. I'm him before he was him, you see." The usual Doctor brilliance blunted out by the awkward situation he found himself in left something to be desired in his attempt to comfort the Pond. As such, he leaped quickly from that strain of conversation to something a little less confusing to deal with, and in his desire to take away from the discomfort of the situation, he did so with the sort of cheerful excitement he hadn't displayed since the last of his companions had left him - and perhaps even before then.
"Not a clue," The Doctor stated with a flash of fantastically white teeth, his grin broad and genuine, "But I can bet I will. Amy Pond, the girl who knows the Doctor that isn't me, but the one who will be." Closing the TARDIS door, he stepped toward her, his expression losing some of its jovial air and growing a bit pensive - a bit gentle, in a worried way. He didn't like the way she held her face, or the frustrated look she gave him when she said he didn't know her.
The Doctor knew, without being told, without having to ask, that Amy Pond was the companion of his future self. He knew also that she was the reason that version of himself had stood alone in the TARDIS, defeated and alone. Weighed down by the loss of yet another wonderful, brilliant, unforgettable companion he somehow could not save. Yet there was nothing wrong with Amy Pond that the Doctor could see, and her memories appeared to be very strong. So perhaps that was it - perhaps she had been saved, in the only way his older self knew to be certain.
"Oh, Amy," The Doctor breathed, realization settling in. Good old TARDIS - she couldn't bring him to his future self, but she had as good as done with this. Yet before he could say anything more, before he could explain what it was he understood about her, there was a sound off to the distance that froze him in his tracks. Standing taller, the Doctor listened closely to the sudden silence in the street, followed moments later by a clamor some way off and the sounds of screaming.
Turning instantly toward the noise, the Doctor was about to run off in the direction of distress when he paused and looked at Amy, his expression oddly torn. She was the companion of his future self - the one left behind for her own good and his pain. To bring her in on this would be ignoring the desires of his future self, but to leave her here felt almost unfair. She was a companion for a reason - they all were - and it was always so much more than just companionship. He may not know the strengths of Amy Pond, but if she was anything even remotely like Donna Noble, she would be good to have along, even if only as a reminder of his own oaths not to touch certain points in time or a voice to say stop when his own mind couldn't take the idea.
Still, she wasn't his companion. She wasn't meant to be his companion, and his future self had deliberately left her behind, even though it meant being alone again. Even though it meant a goodbye that hurt as bad as Rose Tyler. Then again, his future self wasn't here - and something else was. Something bad - something dangerous. He owed it to Amy Pond and his future self to make sure that she was safe, and what better way to do that then to have her where he could see her?
More screams sounded, and the Doctor's face registered his sharp desire to get on the scene, to stop whatever was happening, but it was clear he didn't know what to do about Amy Pond. That, it seemed, was up to her.

Waiting a few minutes with his hand under the water he finally stepped into the shower closing the door behind him filling the room with steam. Rory grabbed a bottle of shampoo, some new product that Amy had bought the other day an rubbed it through his hair causing a familar white foam to drop towards the floor where it twirled with the water into the metallic plug hole making him feel the tiredness from work slip away like they too were falling into the plug.
Rory allowed the water to drip from his figure as he heard something clang onto the floor drawing his attention to whatever had made the noise which had something to do with Amy yet when she called out his focus changed from confusion to a smile. He was the one who had been banned from the kitchen due to the male's lack of skills in the kitchen apart from the ability to be able to set what seemed like anything on fire. He shook his head and got out of the shower knowing that she would probably want him to clean up afterwards like he often did. The male ruffled his hair with his towel drying it before he walked towards his bedroom where he quickly changed into one of his many favorite red shirts, jeans and black trainers.
Walking outside he heard his wife shout out for him multiple times although he wasn't exactly sure what the female wanted so decided not to answer back until he was sure what she wanted exactly. "I was getting changed what happened?" he asked walking into the kitchen where he was greeted by an empty room. Looking round he saw the outside door open which he quickly journeyed to feeling the wind sweep into his face as he did so causing a chill to encase his body. Rory sighed once he saw his wife standing in the garden on her own yet again, she was looking up into the sky like she expected to see a small blue police box appear which of course he doubted would happen. The time lord had walked to his own death for a reason and they would have to accept that choice. He also knew however that Amy wouldn't be able to.
At that moment she called out his name just as a small blue box appeared close by making a familiar sound creep across the lawn. Rory opened his mouth in shock quickly closing it once he noticed what he was actually doing, the TARDIS came to a stop and of course Amy rushed toward's the time machine excited to see her best friend. The Roman stayed in the kitchen for a few moment's not wanting to spoil the moment between the two of the special bond that they shared although at first it had taken him a while to get used to the relationship that Amy had with the Doctor. He wasn't a jealous person exactly but when he was told that his wife had run away the night before her wedding with another man who she kissed it didn't show that their relationship was heading the right direction. Ever since that day they had just get closer even having a daughter together who at that moment was probably of in the past, her life was completely timey winey something that he didn't think he could cope with.
Staring back at the blue police box he noticed that a male in a suit appeared from within it, a clean suit with no bow tie on this wasn't the Doctor but he had his TARDIS something wasn't right and he wasn't about to let Amy handle it on her own. The male quickly connected with the pair standing behind the red head reaching out his hand to hold her protectively, he didn't know who this male was and until he did he wasn't going to leave Amy with him not for anything. "Amy what's happening? Who's this?" he asked staring from one of the pair to the other staring into the eye's to see if he could try and read the situation.
The Roman heard what was being said something about Amy knowing about a Doctor that wasn't him, did that mean that he was in fact he very time lord that owned the TARDIS. He could remember River telling him about the time lord and his regeneration's which gifted him with a different face and a different personality each time just like when Mel's became River song. It was so confusing yet if it was true then that meant he was a friend not a foe. "Doctor? He's the Doctor, our Doctor?" he asked a frown appearing on his face he really had no idea what the hell was going on.
Screams began to fill the area around them fearsome screams ones that rocked Rory's very soul, there was so much noise and the male couldn't understand what was happening nor did he want to know. If it was hurting people then they needed to stop it he knew that, he just didn't want Amy to get hurt but still whatever happened she had her own mind so more than likely would be run wherever the Doctor did if it was the same person that is. "Let me guess we run towards the screaming right?" he asked the two close to him wondering what the trio were going to do.

That’s what the Doctor had said to her their first meeting, “Amelia Pond like a name in a fairytale.” It was a little reassuring that the Doctor still essentially thought the same about her in some respect. Yet, this didn’t make things easier on her. “He thought that too.” Amy said with a smile like she was seeing an old friend. It didn’t last long though. She sniffed and forced herself to keep from crying. Her fingertips rubbed together, her hands itching to reach out and hug him. Seeing as how they were still very much strangers Amy figured it would not be appropriate. Besides, he may have been a Doctor but he wasn’t her Doctor.
They all must have looked pretty silly to their neighbors standing on the lawn speaking with a man who had come from a big blue box. Only a few stared but drew their curtains back shutting out the unexplainable mad man with a box. Amy contemplated asking him inside but then Rory was there beside her. She had heard him come outside but paid him no mind. She was too focused on the Doctor, even when Rory touched her meaning to comfort her.
This one seemed speak with the same kind of confusing round about way as the one she knew. His movements were different and his voice was bit more…Amy pushed the flirtatious thoughts of her best friend aside. Especially since Rory was standing next to her. This was the man the Doctor was before he became her Raggedy Doctor. Before her imaginary friend came into existence he lived as this gangly thin imposture. Amy wasn’t a fan of this she just wanted her Doctor.
She didn’t want to be rude to this one though because he was the Doctor just prior to their meeting in her backyard. Amy thought back to the Gangers and the two Doctors. She had been with the real one all along convinced he was the flesh. This was the same. Sort of. Almost. Not really but in a way, because this was the same Doctor with the same mind he just acted differently much to Amy’s displeasure. It didn’t make him the Doctor any less.
When the Doctor reaffirmed that he didn’t know her, Amy’s heart sank further all the way to the pit of her stomach. Her eyes narrowed on him as he smiled. She didn’t think that required a big goofy grin. He may have found it amusing but Amy on the other hand was not amused. The slight scowl that had formed on Amy’s face melted as he continued to talk. The girl who knows the Doctor…Amy felt a bit of her Doctor shining through momentarily again. She set her jaw at the memory struggling not to actually cry for another the millionth time since coming outside. This was the man who would become her best friend and if Amy looked hard enough maybe she could find that friend she had been missing so much.
Amy moved a little closer to Rory now accepting his presence beside her. She still fought back tears. Her eyelids were brimming, ready to release the floodgates at any moment. The Doctor looked at her differently all of a sudden, he appeared sorry and even guilty for something. She searched his eyes trying to find an answer. Rory broke through the moment she sighed and hit him lightly on the stomach with the back of her hand. “No stupid, he’s not our Doctor.” she made sure to emphasize our. Amy glanced at the Doctor from the corner of her eye. “He’s not to that point yet.” she lowered her voice to Rory, “Like Mels and River.” Chances were this Doctor didn’t know River yet. Amy wasn’t positive though, that entire thing still gave her headaches. Thinking the Doctor was probably confused as to Rory being there she hastily gave an introduction. “Rory, Doctor. Doctor, Rory.”
The scream had caught Amy off guard. She jumped grabbing a hold of Rory’s shirt. Amy blinked in alarmed and was suddenly much more alert now. She glanced to Rory and then back to the Doctor. Amy could tell the Doctor was struggling with leaving her and Rory standing here by themselves as he took off after the distressed cry or take them with him. When Amy realized he was torn between the two ideas, Amy’s expression hardened and she gave the Doctor a look that warned him he wouldn’t be so easily rid of her. A look that said if you run I will follow.
The urge to grin was too strong. Amy gave a mischievous kind smile toward Rory as he spoke. It was always the same with this man, and Amy wouldn’t have it any other way. Looking back to the Doctor Amy moved forward, “I think my husband is right. This is the point where we run.” she said firmly but with a smile. Her eyes lit up with excitement. There would be no budging her from this decision. One Doctor escaped from her, she wasn’t going to lose another—not this soon and not when she had so many questions. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; background-color: #000000; padding:20px; border-top: 10px #72645d solid; border-bottom: 10px #72645d solid;] With a bit of a mind flip You're into the time slip And nothing can ever be the same
The Doctor stopped short at Amy's statement, momentarily surprised by her words, before deciding that wasn't so odd. Amy Pond was a brilliant name, so of course he would comment on it - nothing out of the ordinary there, really. Still, he could tell that the reminder of who he was meant to be wasn't helping to take away the sadness in the redhead's eyes - quite the opposite in fact, despite the smile she gave him.
Feeling oddly guilty under Amy's stare, the Doctor was incredibly grateful for the arrival of her male friend. It awarded a bit of distraction from the way she scowled at him, before once again looking as though she were on the verge of tears. At the lad's question though, the guilt suddenly made a rather gut-wrenching amount of sense. He wasn't their Doctor, he wasn't the man they knew, and he wouldn't be that man until he -
Crushing that thought as harshly as he could, the Doctor fought down a sudden surge of frustration that rose up in the wake of his guilt for delaying the arrival of whoever it was who would take his place. He hadn't heard the knocking yet, there was no reason to go looking for it, and no matter how long he delayed things, he would still become their Doctor - eventually. He didn't have to feel bad for being here - least of all when his whole reason for being here in the first place was to comfort his replacement.
Realizing an introduction was happening, the Doctor pulled himself back to his old ways, determined to smile his way through this. He was, after all, the Doctor. And the Doctor was always, always alright.
"Well would you look at that," he stated brightly, flashing his trademark grin once more, "You've got your own Mickey. That's cute." So his future self had gone for the double-companion idea, had he? A married couple though - that was new. Wondering mildly how that had worked out, Ten was just about to introduce himself again when the whole introduction to running thing happened.
Rory's question was interesting, the Doctor had to admit. It sounded sarcastic, resigned, and determined all at once. He was certainly a Doctor's companion alright, though from the sounds of it he hadn't been the first choice. From the look on Amy's face though, it was easy to guess who had brought Rory aboard the TARDIS to begin with. From the expressions they both gave him, he could also tell that neither one expected to be left behind. Rory looked as though the thought hadn't even occurred to him as a possibility, and Amy - well.
She looked like Donna did a few moments before striking him upside the face for doing something stupid, or perceived to be stupid. Or maybe like Rose did when he attempted to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Fierce and brilliant, he didn't need her words to know there would be no leaving Amy Pond behind.
The pensive look left his face, and even though they weren't his companions, they still weren't the sort to let a Doctor run off on his own. Oh, how it must have hurt to leave these ones behind. His future self wasn't here for them now, but he was - and although a part of him felt it might be better to leave them safe in their home, the stronger part of him suspected that whatever waited for them now would be better faced with a Doctor, because it wasn't going to leave peacefully.
So they weren't his companions, and he wasn't their Doctor, but none of that mattered now. The TARDIS had brought them together not because he had wanted to comfort his older self - she'd done it because there was danger here, and his older self couldn't protect his companions now. He was sure of it - because after all, the TARDIS was just that smart, and the thought of having over-ridden her original intentions was something that would never, ever occur to him.
"Come along then, Ponds," He stated brightly, reaching out a hand just long enough to beckon, before bolting off in the direction of the screams. It wasn't as though he needed much help remembering which way to go, or figuring out how to get there. The unmistakable sound of Dalek energy beams firing was an even better beacon then the screaming, after all.

So he was the regeneration before their's meaning that like their own Doctor he was going to die although at least he would come back as their time lord. The Roman sighed silently to himself. no matter where they went danger seemed to follow but he was used to it now in fact he had begun to like it, only slightly mind. "Mels and River" he repeated remembering all to well the encounter that they had with their friend turning out to be their daughter who in turn killed the Doctor. He should of paid more attention in science lessons, time travel wasn't something that Rory had thought he would need to remember.
A frown crept onto his face as the male spoke about Amy having her own Mickey which according to him was cute turning to Amy who didn't seem to see any recognition in her face he opened his mouth. "Who or what is a Mickey?" he wondered feeling that whatever it was it was directed at himself but to the nurse it just sounded like a normal name and in that case he wasn't a Mickey so tried to correct the time lord not that he would listen to him anyway after all his future generation never seemed to "I'm Rory"
"Hi" he exclaimed with a nod reaching out his hand before the Doctor began to speak yet again thus quickly dropped his hand. Rory listened as the pair spoke trying to act like he was involved in the conversation even though in truth he wasn't, Amy had always been closer to the time lord than he had so maybe he should of stayed inside and left them alone. He felt like turning around back inside the house but the screams stopped him, the Doctor had always noticed how compassionate both the male and his wife was, Roman or not he wasn't going to let him down now. The time lord had saved his marriage in more way's then one, Amy was beautiful someone who he didn't feel that he deserved yet there she was beside him both the mother of his children and his other half. He could remember all the times that they nearly lost each other or in his case did lose each other for a limited time period as each death occurred with each last memory being of that Scottish red hair from Leadworth.
The male felt a tug on his shirt from the red head as the screams surrounded them automatically making him move closer to her so that they were a few centimeters apart or they were until she moved forward to reassure the Doctor who was clearly torn between the noise and his future companions. Whatever she said seemed to work though as he instantly began like their Doctor calling them to follow them and if he was even a small amount like Eleven then he would know that they would follow him to death and back. "It's Williams" he called out sighing to himself, it was always Pond but that thought didn't stop a small smile escaping onto his face it was just like old times. One's that the current two hearted alien would soon be having, timey winey it was.
Rory charged forward feeling the wind blow into his face as he so yet ignored it which wasn't a hard thing to do as the screams were getting louder meaning that they were getting closer which also meant that they could hopefully help stop them. The positive attitude disappeared quickly when he heard another familiar sound one that he had heard when he was a plastic Roman with a metallic gun like hand for a weapon. He stopped when he heard the laser like beam fire again although his heart beat faster than it ever had before, these creature's were one of the most fearsome thing's that he had come up against according to the time lord. Darlek's an alien race that were supposed to be dead but weren't just like both the Doctor and Rory were, neither were supposed to be there yet here they were. "Amy it's them" he told her turning back to see her expression.
No one needed to ask him if he was staying because that was a stupid question, wherever his wife went he would follow apart from her hen night but that was different thing all together. The factor that bovered the Roman was that he wasn't one anymore, he had no weapon to defend them with and they also had no River. She had been angry enough to kill the Darlek when they were in the museum but they had nothing, beside's back then there was only one Darlek who was half alive now there seemed to be a group of them. Although he hadn't seem them yet he guessed there was a lot of them due to the amount of screams that were circling around the group like the whole location was being attacked. "Doctor" he said looking over as he ran beside him reaching out his hand to drag Amy along with him, not sure where she was "How do we stop these things?"
Darlek's, he never thought he would be seeing them again he had hoped that he would never see them again. Rory didn't like the fact that they seemed to attract danger like it could sense where they were in all of time and space, it wasn't exactly a safe environment to bring up a daughter luckily for them that Melody was a fully grown woman. He wondered where she was at that moment, probably out with past Eleven on some journey through time pity she couldn't be around to help them. "Can we stop these things?" he asked staring out towards the blast's that were toward's the center of the city accompanied with the high pitched screams.

Thinking about it Amy could have been freaking out a lot more than she was, or had. It was initially disappointing that the sound of the TARDIS led her to a different incarnation of the Doctor she knew and loved. Deep down Amy had hoped that this was a future version of the Doctor. If it had been at least Amy knew the Doctor was some how alive even if he never came back for them. But Amy knew that was the most wishful thinking. She had stood on the shore of Lake Silencio and watched the Doctor's death. She watched the astronaut rise to strike down her best friend. Amy had been helpless to save him and that gutted her.
This man here though didn't know that his future held death. Not just the death of him, but death as a whole Time Lord. That made more sense the first time around in her head. Amy had to keep that secret from the Doctor, her Doctor and now she would need to keep it from this one as well. It was tempting though, oh so extremely tempting. If she told him now he'd have more time to prevent it from occurring. Amy couldn't do that though. He'd be so cross with her for giving him too much information about his future.
Amy brow furrowed. Mickey? She silently mouthed the name. She looked to Rory skeptically realizing that there must have been another companion of the Doctor's to which this reference was relevant. She shrugged it off for the time being, it would have to be put on the list of questions she had started in her mind for this Doctor. She smirked to Rory as he reached out to shake the Doctor's hand and was basically denied. Amy patted Rory on the arm in an "it's okay" kind of way.
She held her breath still continually staring the Doctor down making it very evident that she was not going to settle with being left behind. Amy felt Rory next to her but didn't avert her gaze for a moment. And when the Doctor beckoned them to follow, Amy beamed despite the way he called for them. He had referred to them as the Ponds just the way their Doctor did. He may have looked and sounded different but there was still the same or similar mindset. The name that had come to be a term of endearment to Amy tugged on her heart a little but she didn't let the moment of hesitation show on her face. As Rory attempted to correct him she rolled her eyes and nudged him to move forward and start running. "Come on Rory." she said, her tone telling him to drop the subject.
She took off running after the Doctor the adrenaline surging through her chest. This was what Amy missed the most, all of the running they did. Even though the three of them were heading toward something that was most likely wanting to kill them and probably could quite easily, Amy couldn't keep the ecstatic look off her face. She slowed in her run hearing a sound that Amy had only heard a small handful of times before. The expression of joy vanished from her face, as well as the emotion from her entire body. Amy had encountered them in the 1940's and then again when the TARDIS had exploded and the Universe was dying. The Daleks. The Doctor had been surprised that she had not remembered them before the two of them arrived during WWII in the War Cabinets. Amy had no idea who or what the Daleks were prior to the meeting though according to the Doctor she should have.
Amy stopped once the Daleks were in sight. She felt Rory's eyes on her but she stared past them and to the alien race that she knew the Doctor hated so much. Amy swallowed a look terror on her face. She knew what they meant and how they operated. No survivors. She grabbed a hold of Rory's hand when he reached for her. His pull a little more than Amy had expected and she momentarily stumbled forward on her feet nearly loosing her balance. She picked up speed though and they caught up with the Doctor stopping beside him.
Out of breath Amy looked to the Doctor for advice and wisdom in a situation such as this. "Doctor those are Dalek yeah? No remorse, hate filled, kill on sight Daleks." she edged closer to the Doctor. Amy kept her voice low. "Doctor, what do we do?" The Doctor never carried weapons on him, so there would be no immediate way of destroying the Dalek. Which meant that they would need to relay on a plan of action. A very careful plan of action. Amy knew enough about the Daleks and the Doctor to know that they were sworn enemies and that there was nothing the Doctor hated more than a Dalek.
There were times where Amy wished she was just as clever if not more so than the Doctor. In situations like this Amy tried to come up with a plan of her own. Right now the two humans in the matter were pressing all of their luck and placing their lives in the hands of one Time Lord. A Time Lord Amy prayed would save them. But Amy wasn't so sure she wanted to be saved anymore. She wanted to be the one doing the saving for once. Though, of course, this was not exactly the best scenario to act brave and at best foolish. She stayed close to the Doctor and Rory trying to think of anything that would help them. The only thing Amy knew was that the Dalek's weakest point was their eyestalk. But again they didn't have weapons as it was not the Doctor's style.
"Doctor, we have to do something. Those are people dying." Amy said her voice still low just registering above a whisper. And it wasn't out of fear of the Daleks hearing them that Amy kept quiet. It was the reality of the situation. Those screams were coming from people the Daleks were killing, or as they liked to put it, exterminating. Amy clenched her fists together and kept her arms tight against her sides. She looked to the Doctor. Amy didn't know what this regeneration was like, but she hoped he was good with coming up with brilliant plans. |
