Sarah Jane was used to the strange and unusual happening to her. After all, they've been happening to her since she was about 23 years old when she pretended to be her aunt to get inside UNIT to investigate the disappearances of scientists. There she met a man with a blue police box and together, they traveled back in time. Of course it hadn't been his intention to bring her along with him, but she had stowed away inside the TARDIS without his knowing it. They never really ended after she returned to her life on Earth, though she didn't realize that she was meant to fight the aliens that come down, wanting to destroy the Earth until she met with him again, when he was traveling with Rose and Mickey. When he had given her the watch and sonic lipstick inside a compartment of the new version of K-9.
But her life these days consisted of fighting aliens that come down. There had only been one time when she dealt with time travel after leaving the TARDIS and Sarah Jane wished she hadn't been tempted to go back in time then. She had even warned Rani, Clyde and Luke how dangerous it was to time travel because changing one thing meant the whole future could be changed. But she had gone back with Luke, wanting to see her parents and she ended up saving their lives, changing the future drastically. After finding out The Trickster was involved with it all, everything was set right. Her parents died as they were supposed to, leaving their baby at the side of the road with her future self. After that she didn't time travel much, stuck to defeating aliens.
But it wasn't very long after she said goodbye to Jo Grant-Jones and her grandson after they had been brought back to her house after going to UNIT for a funeral meant for The Doctor that she found herself not in her own time. She had gone into London, alone, for something when she realized the different clothing, the fact that there weren't any cars around. Even hiding her car made her stick out because of her clothing. And the watch. Must be a time crack that she didn't know about. Upon glancing at her watch, she became aware that it was no longer functioning. Sarah tried fixing it, even using her sonic lipstick, but it didn't work. When she got back to her time, and she was sure she would eventually, she could have Mr. Smith take a look at it. And if he couldn't, she would have to wait until she met The Doctor again, whenever that would be, to get it fixed.
Sarah Jane walked down the street, trying to figure out her reasons for being brought to the past and how she could get home to her time again.
