Congratulations, you're one of the few amazing people out there that have actually taken the time to glance over the rules!... Either that or you're only here for the code word, in which case it's my job to make things as difficult for you as possible. :] Really though, if you don't read these, it wont be hard for us to tell. You're guaranteed to do something wrong- probably within your first few days. So take a few minutes and run through these. It'll make all our lives easier.
Rule 1: Don't be a whiny bitch. By that, I mean you need to respect all the members and administrators. You don't like being treated badly, right? Well don't do it to others. We're all friends here, or at least we want to be. Rudeness and hostile actions will not be taken lightly. We have rules for a reason, and if they are broken and we feel the need to take action, arguing with us will do nothing for your case.
Rule 2: Absolutely not cursing Yeah, to be honest, that's not a rule. And it's not something we're particularly harsh on in the RPs. All the same, we'd rather you not go dropping f-bombs every few words. Proboards is PG-13. You know what that means. All inappropriate content will be removed from the site. Also, under no circumstances can you curse AT another member ooc. See rule 1 on lack of hostilaties.
Rule 3: Activity. We'd like our forum to stay in the land of the living. You wouldn't like if if us admins suddenly dropped off the face of the earth right? Don't join and run. If you're going to be gone a while, post an absence. It's fine. We will have activity checks regularly, and if we can't account for you, you're account will be deleted, posts archived, and any canons you have put back up for claiming. There is no limit on characters as of now, but you're expected to post at LEAST once a week with each of them, and we're more strict on this with popular and needed for plotting canons. Both applications and reservations for characters will last a week unless noted.
Rule 4: So you want to be an original character? Great; we're fine with that. But one, they need to be placed in some sort of fandom that they're best suited for. Two; any relations with canon characters whether big or small need to be cleared with the canon character AND the admins. Three and most importantly; no Mary sues. We don't want overly stereotypical or perfectly tragic characters. They're not fun, and not realistic. If we feel that you've crated a Sue (or a Stu) we'll give you a viable reason in reviewing your application and a chance or two to fix it.
Rule 5: While not a super advanced site, we do expect you to have a general concept of roleplay, your characters, and proper spelling and grammar. We're all over thirteen, and elementary school worthy writing isn't going to fly. Proper punctuation and capitalization, and please write in the third person point of view. Yes, we all have typos, but if you're consistently unreadable this probably isn't the place for you. There's no word count- its quality over quantity. People don't like one line with nothing to respond to, and they don't like a thousand with nothing to respond to either. Godmodding; just as bad. unless given permission by that characters players, you may not react or speak for any characters other than your own. We DO look over your applications in detail and we expect samples for canons in characters. Don't half-ass it. We want you to stay as close to canon as possible. If you don't appear to have a good grip on your character, there is a chance you could be denied.
Rule 6: Plagiarism. It's ILLEGAL. Applications and posts are expected to be in your own words. All graphics and templates and anything else that LOOKS like someone put a lot of work into it- back AWAY it is NOT yours. We have no tolerance for stealing and if caught you will be assassinated banned and deleted immediately. To let you in on a secret- we're ninjas. We'll catch you. So don't do it.
Now, we have a three strikes policy here. It's like in baseball, only.. they're a relatively nice sport, where coaches might say it's okay to miss sometimes. Missing, if you read the rules, shouldn't happen. You're be warned on your first offense, banned for a period of three days on your second, and deleted off the forum on the third. None of these rules are particularly difficult to follow. Just don't do anything stupid and you'll be alright.
There, now was that so bad?... Well I'm sure it was, but you have to love that this was a rhetorical question- and you can't reply to this post, therfor what you think doesn't really matter. That code word you're probably frowning over the fact that you've missed, well- it's playing hide and seek in the side-bar plot section. Now, if we haven't scared you away yet- have fun!!
